Oh you are a clever lot.............:T

This isn't a 'christmassy' query at all but I've been looking for replacement seat pads for our 6 kitchen chairs........what a price  Unless I want colours that just wouldn't look right at all ! So.........thinking to myself..........I wondered if I could cover the ones I've got - I've got some surplus curtains upstairs in a drawer that might do (or the charity shops would have some).
Would it work if I sewed a new cover to the old one ?
I don't have a sewing machine and to be honest the eyes and hands I've got I'm better doing stuff by hand.
I can't see why it wouldn't work but just wanted another view on it.......................
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

  • Thank you for your kind comments about my blog. I get most of my inspiration from other blogs as there are some really talented people in blogland. I spend way too much time blog-hopping though.

I think it would work really well had a look at my chair pads in the kitchen, you could make a cover like a pillow case then they would remove easily for washing or just stitch on a replacement top could be some nice relaxing stitchery, will try washing mine first to see if that helps them will wait till weather a bit better would take at least a week to dry just now

I found this just now - I love it and think it might be something I try soon! http://www.spoolsewing.com/blog/2008/05/16/bird-mobile/

The bird pattern is at the top of the page on the left hand side.

grannytwice - thanks. They're ok apart from looking so drab and boring, plus I fancy a bit of a change. It'll also make use of the spare pair of kitchen curtains I've hoarded for long enough.

    I'm in!
New to sewing, have had my first machine now for about 6 months (I think!) and it is totally underused! I don't plan on doing much with clothing just the very simple odd bit here and there such as hemming up, my interests seem to go more toward crafty, quilting etc....

So glad to find a 'group' of like minders here on MSE! :T
  • Well I finally got off my laptop and made something:j I have been wanting to make one of these "goodnight angels" for ages, except mine doesn't have any wings so not technically an angel:rolleyes: It was really fiddly to do but I'm quite pleased with it now it's finished. It is from the "Crafting Christmas Gifts" book by Tilda:D
