Hi, Can I join too please? I have lurked over from the Christmas 2010 thread. I am a complete novice and I don't have a sewing machine (OH says I can't get one till we move house or the flat will burst at the seems:o) I have always wanted to make a patchwork quilt. Am I kidding myself on wanting to do it by hand. I would love to try something like this (lots of straight lines) - I appreciate it will take ages but do you think it would be impossible?

I am sewing my daughters one by hand and I find it easier to do than by machine especially when it comes to keeping things aligned! Mind you I am only sewing the small squares together not adding a sewed patterns onto the squares. It is quite relaxing to do in front of the TV of an evening.
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!

Thanks Rummer - I thought I might be getting in over my head. I'm knitting a pair of gloves for myself at the moment so next project once they're finished....

I have made quilts both by machine and by hand. I much prefer doing it by hand and also find it much easier to keep aligned. It does take time but you could always try a cushion cover or baby quilt first to see how you get on.

    Can I join too?

I made all my Christmas presents this year and plan to do it again next year but will be more organised this time. Starting mid November was a BIG mistake!

Plus I want to spend more time making things for myself this year.

I am only a beginner really but getting better. I have a blog but don't think I can post links on here (search Google for Little Pink Lady).

    xx
What an interesting blog, Thanks for sharing , would like to make some pressies this year, starting with some dolls clothes for my grand daughters birthday off to search for some knitting patterns preferably free and get going instead of reading MSE

I have also just looked at your lovely blog. I loved the doll's nappies - what a great idea - and your apron with the crayons in it! Think I'm going to have a very busy New Year sewing!! Thank you for sharing.
