stardrops that is fantastic. May have to invest in that book a little later when I have some more spare cash. Is it a good book?

I have just ordered the readers digest book that someone else mentionned so hopefully that will help me along my merry way.

Well I finally got off my laptop and made something:j I have been wanting to make one of these "goodnight angels" for ages, except mine doesn't have any wings so not technically an angel:rolleyes: It was really fiddly to do but I'm quite pleased with it now it's finished. It is from the "Crafting Christmas Gifts" book by Tilda:D

Stardrops, did you do the eyes has suggested? i`m a bit wary in case the ink runs? Thanks
  • Lolo - Yes it's a good book full of xmas stuff, apart from the goodnight angels which you can make for any occasion. But if you already have the "Sew Pretty Homestyle" book by Tilda you will find it very similar :D

nuttywoman - I just used a black gel pen (metal tip) for the eyes. I used the same pen for a couple of angels I made about a year ago and the eyes are still the same, no runs:D I also just use some of my own blusher for the cheeks which I apply with a small eyeshadow brush, as these angels are just for display it's ok:D Just thought I would add that isn't how I apply blusher to my own face:rotfl:

  • Wow, that is brilliant Stardrops! I thought it was a pic from the book at first!

I haven't attempted anything from the Tilda books as I'm too scared. :o I find it all a bit imtimidating!

Just wanted to add that I have got out loads of books from my local library by searching for them and reserving online (not sure if all libraries have this system) but it has saved me an awful lot of money on books! I've had Sew Pretty Homestyle (plus other Tildas), Sewing in no time and Sew fabulous fabric to name but a few.

One I am on the list for at the moment is Seams To Me as there is a Pincushion Caddy in there I'm desperate to make!

    Hi everyone!!!

Not really sewed a lot in my life, apart from to make a lavender fragranced cushion filled with rice that you microwave :D I even made it a little fleece cover and it was really good :) I thought so anyway......

So, I really LOVE those Tilda angels and the little strawberries too. Is there a pattern for the angels in Sew Pretty Homestyle or just in the christmas book?

I also need a sewing machine but not got a lot of money right now... Anyone recommend a machine for under £100 that would be good for a beginner?

    Thanks,

    Kevin x
  • Stardrops, your angel is beautiful. It matches your bed perfectly. You must have a gorgeous home with all your stunning creations!
Do you have her springtime book? I'd love to make her chickens and geese (we keep poultry here!) in fact, I'd love a Tilda home altogether, I love all her stuff.

    Hi

Yes there is a pattern for the angels in the sew pretty homestyle book:D They are slightly different but just as lovely. I posted a pic of one I made earlier in the thread if you want to take a look. As for a sewing machine I have a brother sewing machine which you can now get on ebay for about £80(recondtioned I think) It's just a basic machine but does all I need it to. I'm afraid I'm not very good on giving advice about machines but someone else might know;)

Yes, it's a good one. It's on my list to buy as I had to take it back quick as someone else had reserved it. How rude!

I've had a peep at your blog and I think your sock monkeys are brill. Where do you buy your socks from? I have a feeling 2010 may be the year of the monkey for me! :p
