since having my new sewing machine a few weeks ago and lurking in the back ground on this post, taking inspiration from you all.... I have gone mad with sewing and I love it.

Here are some of my creations (not all great but I like the challenge :) )

Knitting needle roll (made from old shirt and jama bottoms again) - http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff296/trixietoes/Knittingneedleroll2.jpg

My Hoot (made from old work trousers and some odd fabric) http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff296/trixietoes/The1stHoot3.jpg

Coloured pencil roll (adjusted from the original crayon roll) I actually bought this fabric :-) - http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff296/trixietoes/Projects031.jpg & http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff296/trixietoes/Projects033.jpg

Union jack draft excluder - http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff296/trixietoes/UJDraftExcluder.jpg

    Wine glass coasters - http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff296/trixietoes/Projects021.jpg

and my what I am most proud of so far... actual clothes LOL. My 1st attempt - Trouser jeans.

    http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff296/trixietoes/Projects016.jpg

I hate jean/trouser shopping and have probably wasted thousands over the years on stuff I end up not wearing and giving away so this was an experiment - spend just over 20.00 in total inc the pattern for them. This is the way I will be going in the future as they actually fit how I want them too!

Keep all those fabulous creations coming ladies they are really inspiring, it is also good to feel as if I am learning with others too and not alone in my experiments :j

Wow what lovely things you have made, I love the trousers, very clever.

Trixietoes! Your poor new sewing machine must be exhausted :rotfl:

There are some beautiful makes there, I particularly love the fabric you used for the crayon rolls, beauftiful.
Those trousers are amazing - I have the same problem with trousers, I wear the same pair for years as I have all kinds of trouble getting trousers that fit well.
    Which pattern did you use?

I'm so pleased for you they are brilliant, I'm also so envious of your dressmaking skills :)

I don't know about anyone else but sewing isn't the only 'craft' I like.

So what other crafts do we like to do in our 'spare time'.

    I Like:

    Cardmaking
    Jewellery
    Mosaics
    Knitting
    Baking (is that a craft)

    Ok my list is:

    Cardmaking
    Drawing / painting
    knitting
    crotchet
    cross stitch
    baking (i think it's a craft)
and I would love to try - mosaics, stained glass, scrapbooking, jewellry (not enough hours in the day for all that though)

The boxes are lovely, the fabric is great too - where did you get it from? I tried to make a fabric box a few weeks ago and it ended up looking more like a bag as the interfacing I used wasn't heavy enough. I have to get some more so will try again when it arrives.

This is mine made out of old Pj bottoms and OH's shirt LOL.

Thanks for nice comments about my flowery box :)

I made it from good old Terry's Fabrics stuff (I should be on commission ;)) - it's called Ab Fab Tropicana (musical interlude : *club tropicana drinks are free - lalalalala* Ahem) and was £8.99/m.

They take hardly any time to make as they're just two bits of fabric sewed together - I'm currently making one in each colour for my piles of different coloured scraps and swatches (a blue one, pink one, green one, etc.) all of which currently live in a big bag, screwed up and mixed together :o!

Re interfacing, I used a medium weight one but just pressed it lots and lots after the box was finished - I used the iron on each of the creases. I guess bigger size boxes would need sturdier stuff though.

PS Sunshine12 - Poundland?!! Bargain :money:

Thanks Kandipandi, I made it from tea towels I bought last week. (2 for £1!)

I bought the same tea towels! Dunno what I'll do with it yet!
Bought some in Tesco today as well! Got a bit of a tea towel fetish!

I went to my local fabric store at lunchtime looking for some dog and cat type fabrics, like the one on Terry's Fabrics that in-the-beach-hut posted about.

Couldn't find a thing but did get some nice bits in the remnants bin for £2 in total. Will post a pic later.

Now I have left it too late to order online as I needed to make my stuff this weekend for Mothers day so I will have to look at what I have already and make the mum's something out of that. Perhaps I will have a look in the T-towel drawer to see what's in there :)

I love the boxes, my daughters have open shelves in their bedroom and I bought some fabric boxes from Ikea but I like the idea of making some of my own...........some day.
