Just ordered 15 metres of various dress fabrics from https://www.cheapfabrics.co.uk. I'm so looking forward to making a start on dome summer dresses and tops. I bought a Simplicity pattern (2177) on Saturday from a local haberdasher in Leicester. I will hopefully make a couple of dresses, a jacket and adapt the pattern to make a few tops.

I have an order of fabrics coming, but they were supposed to be here on Saturday, and still not arrived! not impressed with a 48 hour delivery that I presume the postage is paid for!

Have an order for 3 lengths of bunting, but they are for the same person, and she wasn't happy about the darkness of the pink I used? So its back to the drawing board. I hope I don't end up wasting too much time, as its not exactly a money spinner, especially if I have to go out and buy more fabrics! I usually use up the colour spectrums that I have, and thank goodness before now nobody has said that they didn't like what I had made, or the colour descriptions given me were not adequate enough before I started. I wont make that mistake again, I will make it clear what I am using and send a sample of the fabrics first. But of course that will mean that its going to take a lot longer to get the finished product. But if its distance buying then I don't really think I have much choice.

Which company is this? So I can avoid. I try to avoid companies with long postage times

Hi, I'm new to machine sewing, thanks for all your great ideas and inspiration!

Was just wondering, I need to get some dressmaking shears and would also like some pinking shears, can anyone recommend any brands/websites/types to look into please? I know that a good pair of dressmaking shears will make my life a lot easier so willing to spend the money but don't know when a high price equals good quality or just a rip off!

    Many thanks :D
I've just had these pinking shears delivered £7.45 from this ebay seller http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Blue-Handled-KLEIBER-Pinking-Shears-9-235mm-Superb-Quality-/110843228902?pt=UK_Crafts_Sewing_Supplies_MJ&hash=item19cec572e6 after checking reviews for the make on amazon & having a heart attack when I looked at pinking shears in hobbycraft & dunelm mill. Not really had a chance to use them but the reviews are good.

I was too impatient and bought dressmaking shears, pinking shears and embroidery scissors today in my local fabric shop - and I have those very pinking shears! They were £9.99 but I don't mind as they gave me advice and I like to give them some business. Not used them yet but hoping they are good!

Thank you all for your advice, my mum has those orange handles ones but I think they were always nabbed for other things when we were kids!
