Yeah, I know, but it doesnt really go in any of our rooms if you get me. Shame I have made everyone one in the family in the past or could have given it as a Christmas present but they have all had quilts already. Hopefully I can sell it and buy lots of new fabric x

Hi, I'm new to machine sewing, thanks for all your great ideas and inspiration!

Was just wondering, I need to get some dressmaking shears and would also like some pinking shears, can anyone recommend any brands/websites/types to look into please? I know that a good pair of dressmaking shears will make my life a lot easier so willing to spend the money but don't know when a high price equals good quality or just a rip off!

    Many thanks :D

I have had mine for about 30 years and they are still sharp.
There are some pinking shears in the same range but I have never tried them as I never use pinking shears. Make sure you only use them for fabric and train everyone else in the house to do the same. I trained my kids from birth that my dressmaking shears were for fabric only.:D

I have the fiskars - I think they used to be called Wilkinson - orange handles. My children bought them for me as gifts - Birthday/Christmas over the years. I have the dressmaking/craft/pinking/embroidery and thread clippers. Also have the scissor sharpener and one that takes off burrs.

Have spent most of the day sewing a bunting. Alas the customer was not happy with the photo of them, she has decided that they are too dark and not girly enough! So back to the drawing board. I suppose that's one of those things when not given an exact description and colour way, pink is after all rather varied in shades. Oh well, I will use it as an example and see if it sells eventually. In future all bunting will be sent a clip of the fabrics before I spend hours making something that doesnt really pay much more than the fabrics costs nevermind my labour costs.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.
