Part of the Furniture I won, I won, I won!
Hi, I hope you don't mind me posting here. I started knitting last year and have really enjoyed it. I wanted to "branch out" in my crafting as it were and have toyed with the idea of getting a sewing machine. I love anything patchwork and am interested in making quilts eventually. I wouldn't really use the machine for clothes repairs or anything like that, just little gifts.

I'm completely clueless and don't know where to start! I don't want to spend a huge amount of money and I was looking at this one
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Brother-LS2125-Sewing-Machine/dp/B000SU93FU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1365706844&sr=8-1&keywords=sewing+machine

Would it do everything that I need it to? Would I need to buy something for storage as well?

Im not familiar with the machine but I know the company well. They are in the same village. I would buy the best machine you can buy because you can quickly grow out of a machine (so says the old ladies at the sewing club)
I'm trying so hard to be thrifty, but it doesn't come naturally. You lot are an inspiration!

Mines a drop in bobbin too and I've done both ways with and without pulling bottom thread through and it still works fine either way

Only the fabric goes forwards and backwards the needle only goes up and down because you have no feed dogs

When I stared sewing two yes ago I had that machine but only for about a week I took it back to the shop and got my money back and bought an electronic machine

There's wasn't really anything wrong with it but I couldn't see to thread it mines has auto threaded

It did 4 step button hole mines does it in one automatically just from the size of the button

You couldn't drop feed dogs for free motion quilting you just have a small plastic plate that you put over the dogs to kind if hide them if you want to quilt my machine now just has a lever you push and the digs drop

So it was really just a case of my wants rather than the machines faults

Yes I spent more money but my machine does more and easier and I wasn't an expert sewer at all I just knew I wanted more functions ease of use and something I could also grow into

Hmo, that quilt is so lovely, I really like the way you combine the colours, brilliant xx

I managed to finish the embroidering over the rubbish quilting yesterday on my quilt. It is ready for the binding to go on now but wont get that done until Sunday earliest as out today and tomorrow. Tomorrow I am going to a quilting show so hoping to pick up some new bits of fabric.,

Started making some new quilt blocks yesterday, trying to use up the tiny scraps so doing sort of log cabin kind of thing.
