Well I made a lovely heart with the help of hmo. I hung it in the lounge and went out for a while. I take it that hubby didn't like it and has thrown it In the bin

What a horrible thing to do!

My gran once made me a pink fluffy rabbit pyjama case, and when I had my eldest daughter I gave it to her. When she was a toddler I kept finding it in the bin so kept retrieving it, until one day I saw her pick it up say "horrid rabbit" and put it back in the bin :rotfl: I got the message :rotfl:
(I have to admit I didn't particularly like it either :o)

My fabrics were from the Remnant House. Not used them before I don't think. But it did come while I was out on Tuesday I think it was. So I didn't get the chance to update before now. Been rather tied up with things.
Have actually decided to take the plunge, and change off of ESA and start as self employed. I will get a back to work payment of £40 a week for 12 months they say. (Unless I earn more than £288- which is obviously not on my radar-alas). So its not as much as the ESA but as I have a child, it means that the Tax credits come in to compensate. Fingers crossed that I get it all sorted. It gives me a year to build.

Had a couple of goes, one I made and realised that I hadn't cut enough fabric on one side but to manage to salvage it into a smaller heart, stuff with some essential oil soaked stuffing and will go in my car as an air freshener. Couple of things I learned was to draw the shape out for the needle to follow rather than using the side of the heart as a guide and using smaller stitches.

Theres a great retail property come up for rent in our town it would make a fantastic haberdashery. Im so tempted

Would also love the idea, but the cost of stock would just seem so prohibitive.
Would love a shop front, and a workshop to teach in.. well . I can dream.

Just wondered if anyone has used a bias tape maker. I am about to make some piped cushions for the first time since I was at college in the 70s. Then I made my bias tape by hand but wondered if a gadget would be an advantage these days. Thanks.
