There lovely crafty.
Ive spent the morning cutting out squares for a practice quilt. Not done any stitching yet perhaps on Tuesday.I'm trying so hard to be thrifty, but it doesn't come naturally. You lot are an inspiration!JUST LOVES THE O/S BOARD0 -
Lovely Crafty, they look really nice.
I did a bit of sewing yesterday, not really been in the mood this last few weeks, just found out my daughter is pregnant so my head has been going round and round. I cut up a pair of my old BIG jeans yesterday which dont fit me anymore and made them into a pair for her that are a little bigger round the waist to keep her going for a few more weeks until she needs maternity clothes. Also cut out a dress for her out of stretchy fabric but didnt get round to sewing it up yet.0 -
I need to get on with my quilt Winnie, its stuck in the cupboard here ready for quilting, still cant decide whether to do it on the machine or by hand0

Morning all,
I haven't really posted on here before but have been reading avidly for a while. Now I have my own place I have room to 'spread out' and craft to my hearts content!
One of the things I want to make is a draught excluder, I'm going to make it out of felt and then I want to applique butterflies onto it. The question I have though is, do I applique the butterflies on first or do I sew the draught excluder first so that I can properly work out positioning?

Hi Littlestar,
Are you doing it on a machine or by hand? If it's a machine I would definitely sew the butterflies on first!
I've just made some tote bags with appliqued skulls (in cute patterned fabric, so not too creepy!) and I made the bags first, then sewed on the the skulls.
It was really fiddly to move the bag around and not sew it's two layers together. Would have been much easier to work with one bit of fabric and no pesky seams.0 -
The tote bags sound lovely! I'm going to hand sew xOU Student! - ED209, SDK125, DSE212, SK124, DSE141, SD226, DXR222, DD303, DD307 = BSc Psychology0
