yes a simple way would be to line your presser foot flush with one of the seems and just sew striaght lines and repeat that either around the edge or do vertical and horizontal lines on each section
something like i did here on this you can see the straight lines on the cream border and if you look close you should be able to see the verticle line following the tunmbler shape in the body of the quilt
and here on the fence rail quilt0 -
I think im going to make a simple bag to keep my cross stitch bits and bobs. Has anyone got any patterns or tutorials?I'm trying so hard to be thrifty, but it doesn't come naturally. You lot are an inspiration!JUST LOVES THE O/S BOARD0

You dont have to have bias cut binding to bind a quilt Chocolate, I just cut 2 inch strips of fabric, sew them all into a long strip then sew it to the top edge. I usually do one side at a time doing the two opposite sides first then the other two opposite sides. I dont mitre the corners but you could look up how to do this then you just join the binding on all the way round. Once it is on you fold over and hand stitch the other side to the back folding the rough edges in.
You would only really need something cut on the bias if you are doing curves at the corners or making a round quilt.0 -
i cut my own strips too 2inch fold in half sew on and fold over and sew down again, i do mitre corners theres instructions i found on the web on my blog of how to do it so its perfect every time if its any help to anyone.0

Sorry for being a pain in the back side. I've misplaced my tape measure. Can anyone tell me what size a standard single quilt is in inchesI'm trying so hard to be thrifty, but it doesn't come naturally. You lot are an inspiration!JUST LOVES THE O/S BOARD0

My little girl is in bed so cannot measure but I think a single bed is 6' 6"long by 2' 6" wide
So you would need longer and wider if you want it to drape0 -
should i add a white border to this before i put a colour on it.
I've added white strips in between each pinwheel square and not sure if i should border it in a colour or add a white border first.
what do you think0 -
