Today I have made a pin cushion for my mum. I made it quite quickly and it looked great so then I thought I would make one for myself and bloody hell did I struggle. I still haven't finished it now. Its the ladder stitch that's frustrating me

Have a look on youtube there's bound to be a video tutorial for ladder stitch

Thats lovely Winnie, well done. Good to use scraps up too xx
  • That's a lovely pin cushion and the fabrics match well.
  • We have a lovely Curtain shop in town and there curtains are really nice but very expensive. But my course tutor told us to go in for scrap material. I went in yesterday and was really chuffed. I was expecting little scraps but I got 5 metres of lovley black fabric with Big silver flowers for £5. 3 metres of a lovely brown fabric for £1.50 and a few other bits. The total came to £9.20.

I also got enough fabric to make my sons quilt from the charity shop for £3.

Today I have managed to sit at the sewing machine, and i made a summer dress that has been cut out and sat there waiting to be sewn for nearly two years!.
I have to picture on my phone, so will see if I can get it onto my blog a bit later. Currently got one eye on the clock as I have to go and get DGD from school soon.
Cant believe that I managed to make the dress, even it being a simple shift in less then 2 hours. Zip and all.

I have been invited to one of the Mums houses on Monday afternoon for a cuppa, and to see some Cards. So I have cheekily asked if I can take along some of my makes to show as well. (For a commission), I am waiting for her reply.
But if its not possible, I think I will have a coffee morning myself.
(As soon as I get the sittingroom cleared up! the toys are taking over at the moment.).

  • I must say I like the pincushion, very pleasing

    Great fabric buys too
