Welcome Cakeybaker. Cant wait to see your photos. This thread is really good. I was reading from afar for a while too but then decided to bite the bullet and post and now they cant get rid of me!! x
Its a needlework and craft show - a bit of everything see here.
Im so excited, took the day of work and dragging my best friend along for the ride. Im planning of taking a couple of the workshops too, I do fancy the jewellery making one, but scared to get into something else that will take up all of my time and my money!
Thanks for the youtube links - I dont use this as much as I should, I just never think, but it does really help to clarify things when you see someone else do it.
I taught myself to crochet recently via youtube. You can stand there and agonize........

Hope you don't mind if I tag along - I've been reading the thread everday since about the 3rd page but I'm a bit shy:o I haven't done much sewing for years but this thread made me dig out my machine, so I made an apron for my mum and a cute little storage bag from a tutorial in a craft blog. I've been using old curtains to practice on before buying the lush fabric I've seen. x
hey cakeybaker lovely to meet you, would love to see your apron and storage bag when your able to post pics on here (think you have to post 10 or 20 times before its allowed) Im very new to this thread also but everybody is very friendly and helpful.
Kandipandi the craft show sounds fab- actually on my way to the baby gym this morning I saw a sign for a craft show called make it-, I have since googled it and it looks like mostly papercraft looking at the exhibitors list. Has anyone been to this before? I was hoping id find some nice material but im not sure if its more of a scrapbooking/paper type craft fair. Not sure if anyone else lives in Hampshire but its in Farnborough here is the link http://www.make-it.org.uk/home.php0 -

Thanks for asking Kandipandi, it will be ready on saturday, can't wait to try it! My friend and I have made another 6 batches since then, I think I'm going to be over run by handmade soap:rotfl:
I can't concentrate on anything today though as our first grandbaby is on it's way as I type:eek: think we are about 2cm away now:p;)

On the subject of soap, I think this looks fab!! (Want to try it but my OH wont let me as I make alot of mess when I attempt things like this - cant blame him really!)
Stardrops how exciting!! Congratulations once he/she arrives!! :T:smileyhea0 -
How you doing Stardrops? Bet you're nails are non-existent from biting! Hope all's going well - thinking of you *hugs*
Welcome cakeybaker - nice to have another sewer on board! Look forward to seeing your goodies
Just had to share this with people who may be as excited as me about it. I love wristwarmers but can't knit, so my lovely mum has knitted me some:
But then I found this no-knit tutorial on how to make them from socks. Most people probably don't need a tutorial for this but I do) I have a big sock collection (destined for sock monkey fame), but am now planning to use at least one pair for arm warmers. (Apologies to the poor socks who were looking forward to a monkey's life) x

Hi,was hoping you ladies could help me!
I'm doing a special bedroom for my autistic son and as it's costing 3k plus I've decided to make the cushions and beanbags for the soft corner myself.
I've got a sewing maching (never used!!) and am looking for fabric. It's a space theme room so I'm looking for blue and yellow fabrics for quite a lot of cushions. Most I want just 'normal' but will have a few textured ones too.
Can anyone recommend fabric for plain cushions and any websites etc to buy from as cheaply as possible? If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0
