Oh dear pennib, you have had a rough time with your quilt!1 It still looks marvellous, though I know you will worry over every imperfection! I am the same, so pleased you persevered with it, congratulations :T:T

Well, here is the A4 landscape picture I have made for my brother, using some of my own hand-dyed fabrics. It's of the bay where we grew up, and where I will be in 21/2 weeks time :j.

    DSCF1301.JPG

It is mounted on one of those stretched canvases you can get lots of places...really finishes it off. I decided to paint the canvas white this morning, so the pictue is not attached yet. Just need to get the hooks onto the back, and the picture glued onto the front, then I can post it later this week. There are a few things I am not completely happy with, but pretty pleased with it. It could have done with more sea beyond Noss Head, but I needed to square up the picture and cut off just a bit too much...forgot I would lose a bit with the satin-stitch edging. Still, I will make a better one next time!!!

maman - how about a coaster with the gentleman's name, or initial in it, or a bookmark? I have done that before for some of the males in my family.
Avstar's idea is good too, if you can find out what gadgets he has.

I plan on making a wall hanging for both my Sis and BIL, who are 50 this year, I have already done some preliminary sketches for each of them, it's just a case of finding the time and materials!!!:o

Oh I nearly forgot (how could I!!)...I got the job in the sewing machine shop!! :j

It's only one day a week initially, which is fine as I have two other
part-time jobs. There is the possibility of doing some IT work for him, and once I have learned how too used these amazing machines, to teach other folk how to use them...there are so many possibilities! Just concentrating on the one day a week for now though, and we'll see how it goes after that.

Right, need to get back to the other pictures I'm making.

Have a good week everyone xx

Just popped out of lurkdom again to say - Justamum - you may remember helping me out with how to alter the bust sizing on my first dress pattern in years - I've just realised what part of the world you are in and we are heading there this weekend to visit friends!

Look out for a daft old bird in a black and red dress that may look familiar!

Since all you guys helped me out a couple of months ago I have managed to make another dress, two more Amelie bags as gifts for friends and a whole heap of different pincushions for my daughter who wanted to sell a few to her friends for a bit extra money.

I am itching to start on yet another dress but can't find the sort of fabric I fancy at the moment, so am keeping my eyes open and still avidly following this thread. Right, off back to lurkdom again. Thanks for all your inspiration.

Keiss21 - your comment about getting the job in the sewing machine shop has made me post (after months of reading but no comments) to say well done.

Whilst I'm posting thought I'd say what lovely things you've all been making. Whilst I've been MIA I've completed several bags, including a clutch bag to use at my nephews wedding, a bed for my dads dog, and several large blocks for a quilt. I did a cushion in a drop in session at the sticthing for pleasure show at the NEC the other week and it inspired me on the quilt front.

    Off to lurk again now.

Well done on getting the job Keiss, and I love the picture you did, its really nice xx

Pennib, your quilt is lovely too and the bag, you are so clever xx

I havent done any sewing for a few weeks now what with one thing and another. I finally received the bits today for the bags I started to make, ordered them off an Ebay seller from Hong Kong end of Feb, first lot went missing then they sent second lot which finally turned up today, only thing is they are wrong colour, I ordered white and they have sent clear but they will do. Might be better in the long run (toggles for back packs).

We have been sorting out our garden all week, had a lot of work to do out there including laying some decking to cover an old broken concrete path. I thought yesterday that it would be nice to have some matching table cloths for the garden tables, went up town today and looked in the charity shop and they had a pair of curtains in there which will hopefully look fab as table cloths. I am going to have a go tomorrow as the weather is supposed to get bad so we won't be outside.
