You either have the boot fairs where people come with £2 in their pocket and want to go home with bags full of things, or the odd school fair where they expect you to do the stall and give them the money you make. Or there is the other extreme where they have a "proper" craft fair but its not like local people showing what they make, its more like companies turning up and the stalls are mega money to have one for a day. We could do with something in between like the old kind of summer fair or something that we used to have when I first moved down here years ago but nothing like that for a long time now.
Try asking local hospitals, hospices or independent playgroups - they will often allow local people to have a stall on their grounds for a small charity donation.2014 20p savers club #2 I've given up trying to keep track of how much that pig eats!

Hi all, not been doing any sewing recently but have some projects in mind once house is back in some order after decorating!
I have got tickets for myself and my Mum to go to the stitch and craft show at olympia on mothers day. If you subscribe to any of Cross Stitcher,Simply Knitting, The Knitter, Papercraft Inspirations or Molly Makes you can get the tickets for £6 instead of £10. At the moment they're doing one of the subscribe and get 3 issues for £1 deal so if you're not currently a subscriber it's a good deal and you can get the cut price tickets!

Do any of you have little independent shabby chic shops or florists near you? We have a few in our town and I know that some will have 'guest' crafters where they'll sell your items and take a percentage but I suppose it depends what you're making. Might be worth popping in and asking if they'd consider giving you a little display space though. Summer fairs might be a good place to get a stall, shame they won't be starting for a while but gives everyone a chance to build up some stock. Or set up a Facebook 'like' page and try to get your friends to share it with their friends.
Anyway, I just popped on to share some bunting I made up for my daughter's room, the photo is a bit rubbish thoughNeeds a bit of an iron too!

I just picked up a piece of what I would usually call junk mail, while the electric meter man was changeing the meter, and there is apparantly a "pin-money" Craft co-operative in the area! Didnt know that one. So after I have got back from taking Twin1 home, I will have to investigate more. Could be interesting.
The other thing in the information was a Business entrepreneurs piece of information. It said that there will be a change in the economics of the country, and that The economic situation is going to last for another 6- 9 months, until the end of the summer. Inflations ig going to go up, and you will see business assets coming down. But that
"your job for the next 6 - 9 monhts is to spend time in the "shop", making sure that you get a high performance vehicle built rather than spending time on the track, driving the vehicle you've currently got". Invest more time in resources to build a car that can go fast, rather than driving the car that you've currently got as fast as you can". mmmmmm
Wonder if we can use that as a stepping stone. Got to go.When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Hello lovely people
Well today I have finished my first quilt and I love it! I wanted to have something bright and cheery in my front room that I can use in the evenings when it goes a little nippy as I am sick of seeing the brown cheap fleeces we were using over winter!!
Please take a look at my photos - fabric is 'Flora' by Moda. Not a perfect quilt as it is my first and made many mistakes but I am happy with it and its little quirks - ie not being straight!!!!!!

Hope everyone is having a lovely day - I want to go out but I am waiting in for someone to collect an ebay item that my hubby has sold (and he is out today - typical!) Jo x
Mooloo - interesting point you have there. I am sort of doung this, attending classes, learning new stuff and working on things I want to make. Since I stopped thinking of what to make to sell, but concentrated on making presents, the creative juices have fairly been flowing!!
Yesterday I made this jewellery pouch:
The stitching is free-motion work with blue metallic thread, I love it!
and this Good Luck card:
I went to a patchwork beginners class on Saturday, and this is what I made on the day!!
I have yet to finish the last block (bottom left) as I had spent some time helping the other learners when the tutor was called away for a bit. Most of the others did get all four blocks done, quite amazing!! We are all meeting up for another session to choose and cut up the sashing and get the quilt put together..really exciting!!
Right, need to go and collect DS2 from college, time has flown this moring!!
Have a great stitching day everyone x

Keiss21 Yet even more lovely makes. Beautiful card so nice and cheerful, the drawstring pouch is going to be very handy and the patchwork, well what can I say, I need that class near me!
With those £1 subscriptions can you still cancel after 3 months or is it such a bind you don't bother?0 -
Thanks pennib, I am amazed how much we managed to get done in one day (10am to 4pm)! We were all pretty sceptical as to how far we'd get. There were a couple of girls who had never used a sewing machine before, but they made their 4 blocks too! We all left with quite a sense of achievment.
I've had those reduced sub (mine were 3 for £3 and 5 for £5). I remembered to cancel one, but was late in canceling the other, so I had another 3 months with them before I cancelled. I know some folk cancel the DD after the first sub (the £1/£3/£5) goes out, so that no more money can go out if you forget later hth.

I believe that you can cancel at any time. Its to get you to try, like and keep them coming. I did that with the Craftseller. But although I enjoy reading it, I have cancelled my DD now. I have so many things that I want to do, that its fired me up for a while. So I am trying to reduce my outgoings. Having said that I was amazed to realise that the week had already gone by and it was time to collect the next bag of goodies from the CS.
Todays haul was £6 and it there were 2 denim skirts, and 10 pairs of denim trousers. They were all "culled" items except for one. Which means that they had all been out on the shop floor and not sold. So they are not even the damaged rag I had expected. I did say that I think I definitely have enough to be getting on with. She will keep my details and I can get another bag anytime I am ready.
I will not be saving anything until I am actually making gifts etc out of them will I??
Oh well. At least if the kids need some jeans they can look in my bags first!
I also picked up half a dozen pink damask napkins for £3. Some have some small stains on, been to a laundrette though, as they have the laundry stamps on. So I will have to use them carefully. But they are for using as linings etc.
DGD had a pretty dress sent to her this week, and the pattern is really quite simple looking, so I may have a go at making her a few similar ones for the summer. But am I dreaming? Will I get anywhere with my healths ups and downs?
I havent had a chance to investigate the little co-op information yet, and thats why I came on the laptop in the first place.!When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Quick question about magazine subs please.
I did the 3 copies of Sew Hip for £5 but I'm almost sure I paid with Paypal.
How on earth do I cancel? Has anyone else done this one?

I've signed up to lots of these introductory offers in the past and never had any problems, as long as you remember to cancel the direct debit after the initial payment has been taken out.0
