Just bought some bundles of fat 1/4's off ebay with some cotton reels of thread. BIN just under £50
- waiting their arrival. Daughter and I are going to share and hopefully make some bits n bobs to hopefully sell on.
Oh total of 1/4's is 64. So reasonable price. Now to find some easy patterns to make up.0 -
Still no sewing. and it may be a while yet as on Saturday we finally rallied the family around and they got all the contents of my sewing room up into the loft (minus the machines and desk), ready to swap the rooms around. But there it stopped as I got struck down with a virus on Saturday night and I am now in bed.!
But one thing it did do was make me realise that I have so much fabric its unbeliveable! How did i manage to get so much? My son said that he thought that if I used it all I could make around £600. Well thats a target then. (except I think that if I was savvy I could probably make things that would nett double or triple that!:o:eek:).
I just need to get organised, and find a craft stall again. Health permitting.
If only I could work out how to get the things I do make "out there" to a wider audience. But thats what we are all thinking isnt it?When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Yes Mooloo, its what I am thinking lol. The town where I live it terrible for things like having a stall. You either have the boot fairs where people come with £2 in their pocket and want to go home with bags full of things, or the odd school fair where they expect you to do the stall and give them the money you make. Or there is the other extreme where they have a "proper" craft fair but its not like local people showing what they make, its more like companies turning up and the stalls are mega money to have one for a day. We could do with something in between like the old kind of summer fair or something that we used to have when I first moved down here years ago but nothing like that for a long time now.0

We will have to start thinking outside of the box!.
I was just thinking that 64 pieces of fabric seemed loads and loads. Then I thought about it another way, and thought, I bet I have even more than that in the loft!:rotfl::rotfl:All I need to do is to get it sorted into types/colours/etc and see what I can achieve out of it.
When I am back at the machine, I will just aim to try and make our presents, and the things that we want, and then the things that DGD will possibly wear. I may even have a go at some dolls clothes, (but they would not be of any interest to her, give her mud and worms anyday!).
Talking of fat quarters> I get really confused, as they come up to be different sizes. I have had several from the internet and they are never exactly the same.
I presume that it will depend on the width of the fabric to start with. But I am sure that some of them would be 6 pieces to a metre not 4? Or am I just being rather daft?
Anyway if we have 4 quarters to a metre, then 64 is 16 metres of fabric, and I definetely have more like 100 metres of fabrics if you put them all together!. Oh no, I am stopping calculating or I will be hyperventilating at the cost of the stuff thats been stashed away in boxes under my nose!:eek:When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
I am trying to help somebody find a replacement zip for a backpack. It appears that the specific zip type would be a 2-Way Head to Head Closed End. I am having trouble locating any UK shops (high street or online) that sell these types of zips. An example of this type of zip can be seen at the bottom of this link http://www.janzippers.com/structure.html. There seems to be lots of places selling 2-ways zips but these are replacements for jackets. I am afraid at this moment I don't know the other details such as colour, length, material - I am mearly trying to find somewhere that sells them first. Many thanks in advance
Sadly our throwaway culture will probably mean that once you find the zip that you are looking for, it will cost twice as much as a buying a new bag! Maybe have a look in the charity shops and remove the zip from another bag??0 -
mooloo I think some sellers are a bit naughty and sell fat quarters by the yard & not the metre.0
