    Well done Mooloo xx

I have made up my mind to do some sewing tomorrow. I have some things I want to make, a business card holder for myself, a wallet for credit/store card type of things for YD's BF (I have a small piece of the Marvel comics fabric left that would make the outside), some purses to take round to ExMil to see if she can sell them to her mates, I made her one the other day and she loves it to keep her bingo change in.

I have found some tutorials which I am going to try to adapt so they are my own designs. I found a good pattern too for a storage type of basket with pockets that I am going to have a go at if I have enough fabric to make it.

Another thing I need to do is make some more of my saddle bags as I want to make one each for the nieces for Christmas. There are four of them and I have done two already so need to make another two. I made a tote bag too for one sister and need to make another one for the other sister. I bought some fabric to make it out of ages ago but then I lost the bag I had made for the one first sister so I used the other fabric up in a cushion, then typically, I found the bag.

I have two cushions too that I started making for Christmas presents, they are for my sister's too, they are the house ones with our family on. I have nearly finished the houses, just a few detail bits to do on them. I have also already embroidered the sayings to go on the backs.

Keiss, you are right, I think I will forget making things for the shop for a bit and make some bits for myself and presents and then see how it goes. I might be able to knock up some extra wallets etc while doing them to sell.

Off to make a proper list so I can cross things off when done xx

Glad to see everyone is busy, but so sorry that sales are down. I have found the same with my websites.

I am mainly a knitter, but also sew, and love this thread.
Can I ask a small favour please?

A friend of mine runs a charity that rehomes stray cats and kittens and does a really fantastic job.

We all fundraise for her, and knit blankets for the cats. These not only keep them warm and cosy, but give them something familiar to take with them when they are rehomed.

They are currently in a competition run by an animal insurance company, and could win £5000, which would make a huge difference to them, and pay lots of vets bills.

If you have a Facebook account, please could you take a moment to log on, allow the app, and vote for Haworth Cat Rescue?
Your vote could make a big difference to some cats and kittens.

    Thank you.

Done that for you cuddles. Not knitting lately, so I dont have any wool, or I would run you up some blankets.. But if I see any wool next time I go to town perhaps I could get some and have a go. Instead of sitting hand sewing loads of baby booties!.
One Cupcake cushion finished. I will get a photo sorted out, when I have finished the other one.
Now she has asked for a cushion with a butterfly and one with a dolphin!! eek.

Please can anyone give me some you tube or something easy to follow for a 13 year old girl who has never ever sewn anything before - Mother in law works with someone whose daughter is really keen to learn and has just got her first ever machine - the Mum doesnt sew so my Mother in law has said bring her over and we will have a go at it together - mil now worrying and looking for some easy to follow guidance - though maybe something like an envelope style cushion - anyone any good places on the net to go - really would appreciate your help - may give me the kick start to have another bash - lost all confidence when someone picked so many faults in a quilt that I was trying - right down to wrong type of thread - stitches too short - too long in other places - wrong weight fabric and the lsit went on - the quilt or what there is of it still sits on the sofa back in the playroom. If I lived closed I would go up and help but they are the other end of the country from us - thanks thanks and thanks again Elaine xxxx

Danemi, sorry to hear you had a nasty experience, how rotten of them to criticize so much. I would have floored them I think lol. Don't give up on it, a quilt is always unique to you and the way you make it. There are not any right or wrong ways to do it really, just what ever way suits you.

Thank you ladies for spurring me on, I have had practically a full day sewing. I havent got any photos done yet as I didnt finish until dinner time tonight and the light was a bit dark by then. I made the following though - two business card holders (one is for me, other may be for the shop), card holder wallet for YD's BF, 8 zipped purses and I finished off two saddle bags that needed straps on. One is for my niece and the other will be for the shop.

I am on my own tomorrow too so I will try to get some more done. I have had to order in some more magnetic clasps so can't do some more saddle bags yet but I can finish off the two cushion covers that are nearly done and also make a start on a bag for my sister. Not sure what pattern to use for it yet, I will have to have play around.

thanks rufus - dont suppose you know of any very easy to do projects for this young girl - think MIL is a bit nervous - she could do with something to refer to - kind of her to offer though - she is a good egg. What can she show her to make that has got clear easy to do instructions??? Am surfing around trying to find something

    Hi Laura

Could you perhaps construct it from other pieces you can find patterns for? ie a tunic top with a neckerchief/collar added or similar?

You could see if they could make this PE bag, but if you search the No chat thread, you will be lead to lots of different blogs, that will get you going off in a tangent at all sorts of things.
My 4 year old, granddaughter, made a "sleeping bag" for her dolls house dollys by sewing together two pieces of fabric, aprox 4" x 6", and all I did was finish the stitching off as she did it on her battery operated sewing machine, and it doesnt do a reverse stitch. It sews in a chain stitch. But she was thrilled with it, and is happy trying to sew any old folded bit of fabric together, which is a good practise to keep her stitches straight. now if she can do it at 4 then anyone can do it.

dont let anyone pull your work apart. Constructive criticism is welcome, Rude, and horrible stuff is not allowed. Nobody makes thier first piece of sewing perfectly. But you must remember that we all learn as we go along, even me who has sewn since I was about 9 years old. if not younger.
I even used to make clothes when I was only 11 and 12, that others would wear, but I knew where the mistakes where. As they didnt sew, they hadnt a clue, and I learnt as I went along.
I am still learning, and patchwork, and cross stitch are my nemisis.!
Right I am tired, was going to go for a bath, but at the moment, think I may forgo till the morrow and get an early night.
