not much sewing for me this week! Been busy preparing for TWO job interviews which were both today. I have just been told that I didn't get the first job and I am now waiting for the 2nd phone call.

I am more nervous now than during the interviews!!!!!!!!!!

Trying to keep myself occupied but it is difficult - fingers crossed X

    :(:(:( No i didn't :(:(:(

I thought the job was mine -
from the feedback I got, it was a very difficult decision for them but the other candidate had more experience! (more than my 10yrs :() other than that they said I did a good interview & practical.

So frustrating, I keep getting pipped at the post! And my feedback never gives me anything to work on, just that it was a close-call!

Anyways, I then went to Zumba last night & shimmied out all my stresses! (I love zumba as much as sewing) So back to sewing this evening, I have some more kiddies backpacks to sew!

Aw sorry to hear you didn't get the jobs Tamster, it's so stressful going for interviews too. Fingers crossed something will come along and be even better!

Rufus and Mooloo you've both been v busy, haven't managed to do any sewing for over a week :( so busy at work and full of cold, I get home in the evening and just collapse on the sofa, we've been living off sandwiches because I'm too knackered to cook :o

Just spotted Lidl have a sewing machine for sale from the 15th Dec for £60, might be a good machine for beginners, seems to have lots of features.

Afternoon, I managed to make the Mary costume today. Blue dress, with elasticated neckline. Becuase I used an angels pattern, and then I made a long white headress, as Mary's is usually one that flows. Shawl like. So I will drop it off in the morning and my commitment to the school is done.
Now I can concentrate on the Christmas at home.

Does anyone know if this is any good? Ive done bit, curtains, blinds, small things, but been using my mums machine and would like my own.

Is it worth it...shall I ask Santa...or should i hold out and spend a bit more? Decisions!!

Looks quite good for the money - but it's hard to tell what it's really like without seeing it "in the flesh" ifkwim.

Maybe to a "thread search" on here as I have seen discussions come up a few times.

From what I remember, Lidls machines were really good, but now it is a different manufacturer so not as good as they were but still seem to get some good feedback.

I had a Lervia machine from Lidls and didn't rate it. Eventually took it back and got a refund.

It wouldn't sew anything heavier than cotton and definately could'nt cope with anything stretchy.

I feel as though I havent had a break for ages lol. It is really hard work now, my arms, neck and shoulders are playing up and I just want to hurry up and finish them off but still a way to go. At least it worked out cheap to do as I had the fabric left over from my Sofa.

I have now got another chair stained and varnished ready for covering tomorrow, and two others fully stripped and ready to rub down and paint tomorrow too, then just the one left to strip thank goodness. I am leaving the gluing on of the braid until last so I can do them all at once.

There is a video demonstrating the sewingmachine. Seems to have most of the features that would be needed by most people. Silvercrest is the name of this one. I know my machines are silver, and silver viscount. Both of which have been fantastic machines, although much dearer in thier day, these seem to have the same features.
