Fantastic stocking Avstar, and love the knitted house pennib, well done!! :T:T

Emmarillo - I agree with Errata & Mooloo, they both seem pretty much the same, so go for the Hobbycraft one with the extra discount. :D

Errata - I too have a 25 year old machine (Lewenstein, bought in Eindhoven), an have made loads of different things over the years. I now have a fancy new computerised Singer, which I got (a couple of weeks ago) with LOADS of Mr T vouchers (and doubled up)...still playing with it, but plan on making things this weekend, once I have done a bit of a tidy-up, the house is a tip!!! :o

    Have a great weekend everyone.

I finally managed to make the bunting for the little girls party. With an hour to spare!! But I am happy withit. I havent taken a photo as my house is in a tip and I dont want any pictures of that around to remind me of my neglect of the poor old place. I can potter after I have been to drop of DGD and nipped to the shops.
Next job is to finish making the sewing basket. Thats a task! But I am determind that i am going to do it.

    Brother LS-2125 Sewing Machine

Sorry, I don't know why they don't work. Maybe these will be better?

when i first started sewing in may last year the brother ls2125 was the machine i bought, it was fine but i soon discovered it wasnt for me i wanted a one step button hole an automatic needle threader as my eyesight close up is rubbish and drop feed dogs and this machine didnt do any of that, so i sold it and upgraded.

it is a good machine but just wasnt what i wanted.

ideal world sky chanel 644 and freeview but dont know chanel no, you could also watch or look on the internet if you dont have either tv programme, have a small silver viscount machine as their pick of the day tomorrow night 9pm on three easy payments i beleive so may be worth a look before you part with your money

Not any old quilts, but I do use the insides of old duvets. I stuffed my pouffe with one last year. DGD sits on it watching TV. I also have used that for draughtexcluders as well. Come to think of it I think I still have a binbag worth of filling upstairs! mmmm

I managed to finish refurbishing my picnic style basket, that was purchased in the summer in one of the local charity shops, (£1.75 I think), and turned it into a sewing basket for my daughter, with a padded lid, and with sectioned walls inside, using pelmet vellum as my dividers and covering them in fabric,(and bondawebbing them together).
I am quite pleased with it. Hope that it will be good enough for my daughter to store her sewign threads etc in. She has started to do cross stitch.
If I get to do a picture I will show you all.

Today if I get a chance then I am going to have to make my granddaughters nursery costumes. 5 more snowflakes to do.
    And Mary.

  • Oooh so excited I found this thread :j

I was recently given a flat bed sewing machine and a 4 thread overlocker. I trained as a machinist when I left school. Thankfully I haven't forgotten in 20+years how to thread one up ;) or how to sew :D

However, I have very little cotton and I was wondering if anyone would know where I could buy cotton cheaply online?? Has to be online as I don't travel very well. I've lost weight and I really want to alter my own clothes, but I am just lacking the vital ingredient, cotton!

https://www.fabricland.co.uk has basic polyester threads at 75p for 1000m, or 4 reels for £2.20. Go to the main page and click on Haberdashery to get the options.

You need to phone them to place the order and ask them to send you threads by Royal Mail to get the cheapest options. They only charge the actual postage price and are very well regarded for service and quality. :)

Make sure you DO ask for the royal mail option or they will send it out next day delivery and it is expensive. Their prices of fabrics are really cheap too but just be aware you dont get stung on the postage xx

Not exactly sewing but I am going to have a go at recovering my dining chairs this morning. I just hope the new staple gun will work this time and that I can get staples to go into the chair easily enough. OH bought me a glue gun to fix on the braid after, I have wanted one for ages and told him I couldnt do it without one lol. It will be easier anyway. I spent half hour yesterday trying to work out how it worked but think I have got it now. I wasnt pushing the glue in far enough I dont think.

I have a glue gun, but the rubber nozzle at the end of the gun has split, and I dont know where I can get another one! So annoying.
Today i am back to sewing the snowflakes tinsel onto the outfits. Yards and yards of it.
    Happy sewing everyone.
