    Hi all,

Been reading all this thread but mainly knitting for a while.
However I went to trhe Knitting & Stitching Show at Harrogate on Satureday and fell in love with panels to make a Christmas Book and an Advent Calendar, so the sewing machine has been out.

Mooloo - love your Xmas presents. I'm sure the oven glove will be fine, after all I only ever used a tea towel folded a couple of times :o Must make myself an oven glove.

Cuddles, they are gorgeous, you're very talented! I visited Harrogate a couple of weeks ago too, its lovely and has some great fabric/haberdashery shops - I wrote a blog post about them.

Thanks Laura for the info about jackies fabrics - I haven't bought from there before but might have to now :rotfl:

aggypanthus - I second what Mooloo said - try and diff needle and re-thread also does your machine need a bit of a clean? Mine misses stitches when it's clogged with fluff

The remnant bags in DM are definately worth looking at, for £2.99 I got some good sizes and nice designs :-)

I bought one that had velcro strips from rolls in it and when I got it home, half of it was mismatched! There were bits that had the fuzzy bits and bits that had the hooky bits but they were different colours and lengths. Humph ;)

What about using the lace to make flowers for embellishments on cards? You can use flowers with sew/stitch on brooch backs or glue to headbands or back to felt for a necklace.

    Fab ideas Florenceem, thanks :T

    They were actually printed panels.
I had to supply pellon, wadding, backing fabric etc.

Instructions weren't too brilliant, but I managed.
    Wish I'd bought more now!

Perhaps the pair of you could negotiate and see if you have the same sort of stuff that you could swap to make up useable velcro.:rotfl:

My new machine is here. Dad brought it over, but I had to go to bed as not feeling too well, so all I have done is look at it rather longingly!! Its so light I could pick it up in my good hand! That will make a huge difference to me to be able to move the machine easily.
I may have to consider what I do with my other machines in the end, especially as I am rather low on funds. I may have to think about selling them possibly on Ebay or similar sights. But they are quite heavy compared so it would be costly to post. Perhaps I will see if my girls want to learn to sew (again) and see if that would keep them busy. But then it may also cost me in materials. (For those who know me, will understand what I mean!).
Right back to bed alas, Just dont feel too good at all.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

Had a twiddly fingers day where itchy fingers got the better of me and so had to get out some materials and make summat. As I don't have a pin cushion thought it was about time I did rolleyes.png

I did try to quilt the top...big mistake as now it's a bit stiff to take pins, the other reason was that the machine wouldn't do free embroidery for some reason which, even tho I fiddled with it, wouldn't co-operate mad.png

Anyways I know what not to do for next time and without the padding will get the corners a lot crisper.
