my dd (9) has made this all by herself, the only bit i did was press a half inch hem all round, she marked out her lines with a fade away pen and then did zigzag stitch over them and sewed the hem.

i have glued felt onto the back for her and its now a small mat for nana for christmas

Mooloo, I am so pleased for you, what a lovely Dad you have xx

Lowering my prices on my shop must have worked as I have sold something already. I am pleased with that. I added a bit extra on the postage as I thought it was a bit low on everything so it works out fine in the end.

  • Hiya sewers. Just a quick question, some guidance maybe? I bought a remnant bag from Dunelm Mill which was full of the PVC/Oilcloth type stuff you use for table cloths. Has some good sized pieces in a nice spot pattern and some christmas pattern. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on what I could make with the xmas designs?...And I would love to make a shopper type bag with the spot design, how difficult would this be for a non-expert seamstress? Thanks in advance

The vinyl fabric is easy to sew if you have right sides together, it is hard to sew if you need to have one of the shiny sides either face up or down as it will slide about. You will either need a teflon foot or I think you can put some masking tape over the foot of your machine, someone else might be able to put me right here if I am wrong. I made my bags without having to sew with the shiny side up or down to save this bother. If you have a look on my blog you will find the bags I made (one of them was what I sold yesterday funnily enough) using a spotty vinyl from DM. They are under August - Shopping bags.
