I managed to work it out. These are the curtains made from IKEA Frederika fabric that I sewed for my Son/Dil.

ive been into dunelm today and whilst there i asked them to give me a quote for the roman blind i made last week, details on my blog

anyway if i had bought the fabric and had them make it, it would have been just over £186.00 plus they could only make it 94.5inch wide and my window is 97inch

the fabric is £14.99mtr but i got a 2.5mtr roll end which was exactely what i needed for £2.99mtr, so all in all with the blackout linning, cord, velcro and wooden batten i actually cost me just under £30.

so ive saved £150 and just to think that before i started sewing just over 12months ago i would have paid the full price in the past.

I only get to IKEA when I am up in Nottingham visiting family. I got some of the Rosalie fabric for me while in IKEA.

Went to visit my Mum and Dad this morning, and my mum had the craft channel on. They were demonstrating a sewing machine that sewed through Jeans fabrics well, etc. (Toyota). I succumbed and asked my Mum to order it for me, and I will pay for it out of my savings. (I do have a small amount for the car service in the ISA, so I thought I would treat myself). Very naughty of me!
Then as I got home, the post on the door step there was a letter from the garage saying that my car service is due next month! So I am thinking oh heck!! I shall have to work out the budget again and hope that I start to make things that will sell, when ever I can!. Not just what i want to make, like to make, etc.

What machine did you buy and what did you already have? I pray my industrial machine keeps going - have no idea how old it is - it will sew most stuff.

My main sewing machine and my second one (that is at BF's) are viscount machines. Both very old. When they took them to service them, the current staff didnt know my 6000 model. Laugh. Too old for them to know. But the other one is 2002/3 model.
I have no main issues with it, except the bulk of jean fabrics etc. I just hope that i havent blown my savings for something that is not brilliant enough. The presenter was a man sewing it. I didnt see Debbie this time.
