Morning all, I have finished reupholstering my sofa, photos on my blog. Was a mammoth job but well worth all the aches and pains I am now suffering. I am going to give myself a break for a few days to get back to normal as my fingers are a bit sore and my back aches like mad. I would still like to make one of those aprons or something similar, maybe just a straight one with out the layers. I also want to make a draught excluder to go in the living room. I will have to have a search for some patterns unless any of you have any already bookmarked.
  • Rufusdog, your sofa looks great, really professional. You deserve a rest now!

    Pennib, your cushion is lovely.
  • Your sofa looks fantastic, rufusdog! I wish I could do something like that :)

Just go for it lol, as long as you try to keep the pieces you take off as carefully as you can then you can use them as a pattern to cut out the new fabric. Also as you start taking them apart you can see how they are fixed together and just do it all in reverse. There are plenty of really good videos on You Tube which show you how to do most of the bits.

I now, after I have nearly been in this house for 2 years, shortened, ironed and hung my old living room curtains in my dining room :)
very glad I took the header tape off and shortened them top down as they hang beautifully :) It's very satisfying to think I have a new to this house pair of curtains that cost about £3 for the tape instead of just buying new ones.

Now I think I may attempt using my old bedroom curtains, which I loved and are a linen type colour and fabric into a roman blind for the office. Could anyone recommend any good tutorials on how to make one? I have a cheap Ikea one up which the previous owner left which I can chop up to see how it is made but any real advice would be great:D

And my final question: does anyone know where I can buy fake leather to recover my dining room chair seats as my rug rats have spoiled them:mad:
