Loving the makes. So looking forward to our weekend now, my friend Molly (Met on MSE) and I are going to a WI course on Friday to make Christmas tree decorations!
Then after we come back, I suppose I will be more into the christmas as so far I havent done anything.
Been told of more fabric winging its way to me! Oh happy days. I reckon I will have to start to sell some of it on Ebay as remenants just to make some space!.When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

Family life has taken over, and I dont seem to get the hours I want to do anything much for me these days. Maybe tomorrow. I have two bags part made that I want to finish and really wanted to be making my christmas gifts this year, and as usual I have left it too late. Perhaps I better start making for next year!!
Hart, I am terrible for buying fabrics. Today my Mum bought me some studs for the bottom of handbags, and some iron on piping. Yesterday I recieved my embroidery foot for my machine. Now where is my embroidery hoop gone??When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
well done pollyskettle I would never brave anything with buttons!! lol
Here are my free-motion applique ballerinas and some tea-towel aprons. All Christmas gifts more info you-know-where
I loved doing them , but need to play around with my stitch length. All the advice I found said to set length at zero & control stitch length by your speed but I cannot go any faster or make my machine go any slower. So I think I will try a stitch length of 2-3 next time! I dropped my feed dogs & used a darning foot. For the names I made a template using word-art in word, ms office. I think one of the fonts was segoe cursive, but cannot remember the other one I used.0 -
Hi ladies,
Loving the makes!! I'd like to make some sandwich wraps to give as presents but trying to find a suitable fabric for the lining. The tutorial I have says to use ripstop fabric but a couple of suppliers I've asked cant confirm it is food safe. Anyone know if ripstop is ok with food?

Pollyskettle, well done on the shirt it looks really well made xx
Hart, good news on the job xx
Mooloo, you are turning into a right fabric magnet lol. Let us know if you decide to put any remnants on Ebay xx
Tamster, I love your ballerinas, you are so good at it, I am terrible at free motion anything. I just cant seem to control the machine even with a hoop.
I was making another house cushion today for a customer. I got the picture side done, just need to sew it all together tomorrow. Was waiting all day hoping my sofa fabric would turn up but it didnt arrive so hopefully will come tomorrow now. I can order the rest of the bits tomorrow.0 -
Love the free motion stuff - never tried it but would love to have a go.
Quick question please. Can anyone recommend a good fabric glue that isn't too expensive?
I have some called Crafters Pick which I've used on my Christmas Trees, but its over £5 for a tube, so I'm looking for a cheaper alternative if anyone knows of one.Jack of all trades ... Master of none

Lots of nice makes. Love the sewing machine cover Avstar. Nice shirt Pollyskettle. Some pretty designs with the applique Tamster. You're all inspiring!

Thanks Pollyskettle, the sleeve detailing looks v complicated but glad to hear it wasn't too bad, I'll make a not of the pattern number
If you can still get hold of a copy. The centenary edition of the Woman's Weekly has a pattern offer in it for this shirt pattern. You just pay 75p for the postage. The centenary edition was on sale last week but it was still available yesterday in our local shop. The magazine makes fascinating reading too with all the advice etc that was given over the last 100 years.
There are three other choices of pattern too. A dress, a child's dress or trousers.0
