hello all. i have spent £60 on three fabric/webbond/facing/thread in the last two weeks, and now need to stop! to wean myself off, i bought a pair of curtains for the plain fabric i needed in the cs today, for £3, deffo cheaper than by the yard at the sewing shop. I was also eyeing up a bungundy needle cord shirt for cutting up for crafting, at only £4 (for about a metre of fabric if off the roll equiv), so might go back another day for that. Now i am going to force myself to start using and cut these precious fabrics i have got :-)
can anyone please advise me. i have bought bondaweb today to do the doors and windows to stick onto houses i'm making, before sewing. the pattern says to cut the bondaweb before ironing onto fabric, then to cut out. is there a reason why i couldn't iron onto fabric then cut, as i need to do loads of squares and it seems easier that way iyswim. any advice gratefully received.

If you are cutting out lots of things from the same fabric, it is easier to iron it on to the fabric and then cut out, but of course that will give you a bit more wasteage if you are cutting out odd shapes. But if its squares, and triangles you may be able to get good coverage.
I have done this often. (even to waste some bondaweb alas, as to use it with my slice machine, I need to stiffen the fabric, before the machine will cut the fabric!).:(
Off to my crafting course today. Yipee. A weekend all about making! I can hardly wait, never done anything like this in my life. Last time I was instructed in anything sewing was when I was about 14!!

I really am not sure exactly. Christmas tree decorations- sewn as far as I can make out. It was a bit vague and I cannot find my paperwork.
Being picked up around 3pm. So I will have a quick search again, and then must catch an hours sleep or I wont make the lesson tonight.! Eek.
I shall put up the pictures if they work!:D They better be good enough to keep as heirlooms :rotfl::rotfl:as the course has cost £245!! Mind you that is bed and board too.!When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

I've had my 13yo daughter home today after what could be an allergic reaction or may be the start of a virus according to the Dr, so I taught her to make crazy patchwork stockings (which was a bit like the blind leading the blind as I'd never made one before either!
Here's a pic of our efforts (hers is the girlie one, mine is the christmassy one - they're not quite finished yet - still have the tops to do!):
scholfield8883 - I haven't any experience with that machine, but my Grandmother had a similar but slightly bigger lidl one I could never get on with (but I hear plenty of people rate them). Sorry I can't be more helpful
Mooloo - I hope you have lots and lots of fun, I wish I was going on a craft weekend!"A cat can have kittens in the oven, but that don't make them biscuits." - Mary Cooper

Sorry - making it up as I went along. The fabrics I patchworked onto calico, which was dead easy but it took me ages to find a stocking which was the right shape. I'll pm you"A cat can have kittens in the oven, but that don't make them biscuits." - Mary Cooper
