Woe Ocemeer, that was a bargain!!
Hmo, love the coat hanger xx
I have made the back cushions for my sofa, just the inside bits. They are completely different to what we already have so I am just hoping the whole things turns out ok. I am doing boxed cushions for the back and they had these other cushions that had two compartments and you filled each separately. The bottom one was boxed but the top one was sort of flat with gathered round corners and some piping going across the top. I still have some more bits to come, had a lot of parcels arriving yesterday but not all of them.
Anyone thinking of ordering from Fabricland, just a warning, make sure you ask them what the postage will be when you ring up to place your order. I ordered some really cheap fabric, was 75p a metre, to make the inner cushions out of and a bit of stretchy stuff too which I wanted, that was only £1 metre too. Rang the order in Thursday but forgot to ask how much postage would be but thought it wouldnt be much as the fabric was quite light weight. The parcel arrived yesterday, it had a sticker on it saying next day delivery and when I got the invoice out they had charged me over £7 for delivery. I was well gob smacked as it doubled the price of my fabric practically. I didnt need it coming special delivery, wish I had asked now. Still, the fabric was just what I wanted. If anyone is making inner cushions, the honeycomb parc they sell is the exact stuff that the ones you buy in Wilkinsons are made out of and at 75p a metre would be cheap to make cushion pads but not if you got to pay that postage rates.
Edited to add, I just trawled their website and found it right at the bottom about postage, says they send small bits by royal mail other wise comes by courier, will teach me to read the small print before buying or to ask when ordering.0 -
Hi all, I want to make a couple of art bags for my friends little ones and I want to put their names on them probably by applique but have never done this before! What's the easiest way? was thinking of cutting out some felt letters and blanket stitching them on. Any tips or ideas ? Thanks in advance.0

you could print the names on the pc and cut them out as a pattern
then draw round them onto fabric that you have ironed bondaweb on the back of
once cut out iron onto the front of your project and zigzag round the edge0 -
made this today all quilted and padded and lined with felt fastens with velcro and has a pocket on the front for earphones.
ive bought my dd an ipad for christmas so this is to keep it in.0 -
I´ve got something similar to Spanx that suck you in and smooth eveything out (they work well and are comfy). Anyway they are high waisted and have legs that come down over my thighs. I want to shorten these leg bits as I´m short and they are too long.
Has anyone got any ideas on how to do this or even if it can be done? The fabric looks sort of knotted and I didn´t just want to cut thro it and find it runs
Thanks

Maybe ask in The Sewing Forum.co.uk lots of specialists on there. I dont know if you would destroy them as they are tights material aren't they??? Maybe you could sew on some sort of stretchy bias binding & then cut the pants fabric??0 -
Hi, I wonder if someone can help me or show me in the right direction. BF wants me to cut off some collars from his old shirts and attach them to his v-neck jumpers. He gets too hot so can't wear two layers. However, I've never done anything like this before. I bought some invisible thread so though I'll just sew the collars on on the v-neck line. Also bought iron on interfacing to attach rest of the collar material to the jumper. Does this make sense? Any tips/hints? Has anyone done this before?DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0

You would need to cut off some of the shirt as well, as the V of a jumper is much deeper then the collar on a mans shirt. Can you remember the sort of jumpers with shirt tops in that were in fashion a few years ago? They were basically a collar with a "bib" of fabric around it. Sort of a cemi circle of fabric faced into the V Neck of jumpers. Not sure if you will understand that? Hope you do.
Re the STELLA fabrics, perhaps you could sell some of it on ebay? or Via Facebook or something? (Cannot remember who that was now, as I am so tired!).
Here is a picture of some of my decorations that we made over the weekend. Have now finished a few more since I got home, but not taken a picture yet.
Mine are the three in the centre of the picture and those surrounding are from other people learning on the course too!.When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

Lovely decorations Mooloo and lovely ipad case Hmo.
Went to Dunelm Mill this afternoon to get some wadding for my sofa and found they have put up the prices of all of them by 50p a metre, not good when you want to buy 10 metres of it!0
