think i might just go back and buy some now
Haha we might have matching quilts then!
Rufusdog; Boy that must have been really annoying. You'd think they would have signs up saying what you have to do. Are you going to send them a strongly worded letter.....I would :mad:0 -
Pennib, the colours of your fabric are mouthwatering!
Pogie, I love the Christmas stocking
Avstar, your skirt is great, you've got a fantastic figure.0 -
I buy fabric from ikea but it drives me crazy how sometimes I have to wait 20 min for an assistant. I have asked others but "not my department" One irate customer picked up the store phone and using a code list managed to get through to some one! You can imagine they came quick after thatNothing Changes if Nothing Changes0

Morning everyone
Im so happy weekend at last:D
Rufuswhat a pain Ikea is for fabric
I brought some last yr when me and OH went but like you there was no-one about and I had never brought fabric from there before so I just copied another lady and cut my fabric I wanted and walked off. My OH decided to pay for everything
and went to use the self serve till, he put through the other bits then I said there was no code for the fabric so called an assistant over who asked how much I had, I told her 1meter of each (3 diff fabrics) so she put a code in and we went home.
Best bit was I had 2m of each as it was folded so I got a BOGOF :rotfl:
AvstarI love your skirt, well done :T

Haha Hart, good for you, I saw the self service tills too but the queues were so long. Its a shame as the fabric was nice for the bags I wanted to make and a good price. Still it wasnt meant to be.
I had a look on their website last night for an email address but there wasnt any so I might write them a letter, if fact I am going to do it now while I am in the mood lol0 -
Naughty naughty Hart (although I am guilty of doing similar
) Hope you are feeling better soon Mooloo!
I took the quilt that I was struggling with, into the quilt shop & it seems that it is most likely the nylon/poly fabric that I have used. The weave is too close. So I have smaller needles and have changed to blue thread like the fabric (instead of bright yellow) so that you cannot see all the jumped stitches.
They were really helpful and also gave me some rubber mats to use to feed the quilt through the machine for free :money:(you put them under your fingertips instead of wearing quilting gloves - although I hadn't heard of wearing gloves to quilt)
On the way out, I spotted a beautiful applique quilt
and ended up buying the book that is was made from!
My Mum is 60 next year but the style is also something that MIL would like. They have both been dropping hints about me making them quilts, so this book will be a great starting point.
It is full of templates to make little personalised children, my mind is already whirring with ideas!
The pictures are taken from the Author Janet Clare's blog and from Treefall blog
I am not usually one to buy on impulse either, but I havent put the book down since I bought it!0 -
sorry about the size of the pictures! I took straight from a blog and they werent that big on there!0

That looks gorgeous Tamster. I have heard of the gloves to help you pull it through but I dont really get on with machine quilting, I find even with the walking foot I still pucker it up so I tend to stick to hand quilting. I will try to master it one day though.0

Good info about the Ikea fabric, something I will look out for when I venture there. Tempted to head for Birmingham, rather than Bristol, as there have always been more helpful (and knowledgeable) folk there...but that could all have changed ofcourse!!
Lovely book Tamster, lots of ideas. Look forward to seeing what you make from it.
I spent part of last night looking at books/magazines to try and decide which pattern to use for a wall hanging I want to make. Also on the lookout for a quilt to use my jelly-roll. I should really be concentrating on making things for the craft fair I am going to at the end of November, but I sooo want to make something for myself too!
Right, not a sewing day today, off to help at the Malvern Autumn Show today, so will get in for free :j. Plan on having a few hours free to wander round and look at lots of plants and other things...I hope not to spend too much! I usually get a few xmas presents while I am there, so you never know.
Have a lovely weekend everyone...looks like it might even be warm!! :rotfl:
