Hi guys and gals, quick question which I cant seem to find the answer to on here
Last night I attempted my first sock animal but had trouble sewing the eyes on without being able to see the finishing knot from the side. Is there an easy way to sew them on without showing the knot?0 -
Going to sew this afternoon :j
Will post piccies once I'm done.

Onwards with next week, which can only be better - got to keep believeing that. I am getting into blogging though, thanks to avstar for providing the final push to start up, and have loads of draft blogs already. Again, time is my enemy...
Hope the bag goes better next week!
Aw thanks chickadee, I've really enjoyed learning about blogs, just hope I can get enough time to do some sewing otherwise my blogs going to be empty :rotfl: Good luck with yours
Oh Pootle and Rufus, sorry to hear you've both had difficult sewing days. Step back, deep breath and go for it another day.
Chocolateislife - fab phone cover :T
Pennib - a lovely cosy sock monkey
Haven't managed any sewing (again:eek:) this weekend but I've finally got a sewing corner :j My sewing machine and supplies were always stored under the stairs and it's such a hassle dragging it all out, setting it up on the dining table and then putting it all away again, that it puts you off nipping on the machine for an hour.
I bought a desk from Ikea at the weekend and t'other half put it together yesterday evening. It's just in the corner of the bedroom but at least it's somewhere I can leave it all set up. Tonight after work I'm going to move all my stuff to its new home - I can't wait!0 -
Didnt get to sew as hoped. Too many household bills to pay etc etc. Oh well there is always tomorrow. My arm is still very bad and have put it down to too much of the hand sewing in the evenings watching TV and coming on the laptop! So will try and take the evening off and see if I am better tomorrw as i was fine on holiday. (No driving, no sewing and no laptop!).
Been gathering things together for Molly to take on her creative christmas course next month I think she goes.
Beads, threads, fabric scraps etc. Made me realise how much i was supposed to have done by now and not even started! eek. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Ive posted on facebook about some bobbins. If anyone uses that type Im happy to post them to you. Better off with someone who can use them than sitting in my sewing box. There are about 5 of them. They dont fit a Brother machine (as Ive just found out after buying the damn things!) lol
Avstar, thats fab that you have somewhere to put all your stuff now. It makes such a difference when you dont have to pack everything away again and its where you left it the night before.
Mooloo, I hope you arm gets better soon. Take it easy. x0 -
Right, am now thoroughly annoyed that I've done no 'proper' sewing at the weekend, but I did finish altering the preschool capes, so I sent DD off this morning, safe in the knowledge that she can't strangle anyone :-)
I have loads of pink fluffy bits to start making mini-handbags for Christmas/birthday presents (DD is 1st week of December - as are 4 of her little girly friends...) As ever, I will start tomorrow!
Hope everyone's projects are going to plan :-)0 -

Aw what a shame u got the wrong ones Pootle, but a lovely offer. They are the ones I use but I've got quite a few from a Lidl offer a few months back, so I'll let someone else benefit from ur kind offer.0 -
Hi Guys,
Just thought i'd say hi. I'm new to this sewing lark. Got a machine a few years ago but only just started using it about a month ago. Really getting to enjoy my sewing. So far i have made 2 dresses for my 2 year old twins. A little case for my mobile phone. A couple of little bags to put some lavender in and am in the process of making a bag.(i went on an evening course to do this but couldn't make it the last week so i don't know how to finish it) , a skirt and a xmas stocking. From the looks of this thread you guys have some brilliant ideas. I hope you won't mind if i borrow some of them. xxxxDebt Free by Xmas 2013 No #131 £1199/£2,000

Welcome to the thread Pogie. We would all love to see some piccies of your projects. Some of us (including me) are bag obsessives so if you need help to finish it just post pictures and we can tell you what to do with it next. x0 -
