    Hi

hope someone can point me in rigth direction. I've borrowed my mum's new sewing machine which is a Brother XL 2120. I am wanting to shorten trousers and discovered that i need a blind stich plate to do a blind hem. Ive looked around the web and i think the parts number is F018N but before I order one, I was hoping someone on here may have the same machine, who could confirm if this is correct

(no point asking my mum, cos she is hoping I will suss out how to use the machine so that i can show her lol)

    many thanks

Looks like the right one to me, I have a Brother as well. Check out YouTube for videos on how to use it, I've learnt loads (including how to blind hem :-)

    Morning all

I have been away the weekend so didnt get any sewing done. I came home yesterday afternoon. YD came in last night and said the handle had come off her bag she wants for college this morning. It was gone 9 when she came in and I have to take sleeping tablets and had already taken one so I wasnt in the right mood for it but thought I would get it done quick anyway save doing it this morning. The bag is made from vinyl and had split right off at the sides where the handle was joined on so I had to patch up the side of the bag before sewing on the strap again. I had done the opposite one last week as that had gone so knew what I had to do. First the bobbin ran out after I had done about 2 inches of sewing. Got that loaded up again and tried to do the next bit and the underneath was tangling up in big loops. Pulled it all out and did it again and it looped again then got stuck under the machine where the needle goes in. I was getting so tired by then and what with it not going right, I couldnt get the fabric out as it was stuck and the needle was down, took about 20 mins to sort out then sewed the rest on by hand as the needle has broken. Got into bed and realised I hadnt put a piece of denim in between as a strengthener like I did the other side so I set my alarm and got up this morning and took it all to bits again and redid it by hand with a really strong thread. I think the strap itself will go before the sides go again.

Now I have to go and get some more machine needles. I have gone through a whole pack of them in the last week where the machine has been playing up. I need to go to town anyway so I will pick up a pack while up there and see if the machine is working ok when I get back.

Quick question for yu all. IN my CS there is some very lovely material that someone has already quilted - what could I make with the already quilted material?

Was thinking Ipad case maybe but then my brain goes dead and I cant think of anything else.

I would make it into a nice overnight/weekender bag.

Simplicity do a bag pattern for pre quilted fabric. I cant remember the pattern number but sure you will find it on google or there will be other tutes for free online.

Tute here for tote bag with prequilted fabric.

    http://www.craftandfabriclinks.com/totebag/totebag.html

You could also make a nice notice board if you were to mount it (unless its really thick)

Agree that an Ipad case is a good idea.

    Penni, love the monkey!

Rufus, sorry to hear you been having a mare!
