I've made it 2.5" longer than the pattern as I thought the original was a bit short.

I have been awol - went to Mil's flat.
I have been making 24 cards so I have a basket ready for my Daughter to take into school and sell - hopefully. I have sent cards in before and sold some.
Last year I knitted scarves with the CanCan yarn - sold 10 of them at Dd's school.
Hart44 - love the bags you made.
Midge61 - lots of lovely makes.
Hart44 - I got some of the money tissues - the loot bags are a great idea.
The fabric tubs are another great idea. Faux suede bag is wonderful - gorgeous lining.

    Morning all
Loving all the makes on here. I've made DD a dress. Asked her all along if she liked pattern, material, buttons etc, almost finished and she doesn't like it....grrrr. To be fair it's a pinifore style and she's never liked them so should have known better. Oh well, it's good sewing practice and I can pass it on to one of her friends. made her a drop waist skirt which she loves. It's red with white spots so she looks like Minie Mouse. Need to tackle replacing a invisible zip on a summer dress before the summer is over but I'm not good with normal zips let alone a invisible one - tips anyone?

Fantastic tip, thanks! It has been a long time since I've seen a good independent charity shop though, our town is bogged with the usual shops that are increasingly selling new goods in favour of second-hand.

Bring back the charity shops of days gone-by, I definately spent more money in them ten years ago than I can bring myself to these days. (it's not that I want to buy things for next to nothing, it is just hard to say yes to a top that costs £6.99...when the actual retailer down the road is still selling it for it's original price of £3.99 :o)

If you do come across something that is dearer, just point it out to the manager/assistant manager. There is no point telling a volunteer, it hardly ever gets passed on. The problem is often that the people sorting tend to be, shall I say of a certain age. They just want to sell everything that comes through the doors. They dont necessarily understand the brand names. A lot of managers dont really like the higher prices that their Area Manager/the powers that be are telling them to use, and it can be a help.
    :D

Unpick much further down the seam.
Then you have to make sure that the teeth are uncurled, the best way is to use a special foot that has the grooves in it, that the teeth go through, and the needle then goes down the outside, as close to the teeth as possible.
Funnily enough there are a few tips about Zips in this weeks issue of SEW Magazine. Mind you I still find it a bit hit and miss. Cos I have sometimes slipped into the teeth! Very frustrating, and requires unpicking!.
Once the Zip has been inserted, then resew the seam up to it.

Georgia your top looks fantastic. I think it looks good that length. 2.5" shorter would be too short for me. I like to know that my tummy is completely encapsulated!

Help help, somewhere (yes it was somewhere) on this particular board (not this particular thread) were pictures of a kitchen memo board with instructions how to make.... I had some ideas of where to get mount board cheaper etc but I can't find the thread!!! Woe is me. They were made from co-ordinating papers. That's what comes of trawling on this website.- I couldn't bookmark- not my machine.
    Anyone help?

I made a simple board at a ladies craft evening that my local church held a few weeks ago.

Basically we put a piece of wadding onto the front of a wilkos cork memo board (about £2) , then stretched a piece of fabric over the front & stapled it on the back through the wood frame. Then we placed ribbon diagnolly across the board, again stapling it onto the back. Finally glue/sew some buttons onto the points where the ribbons cross. You could also cover the staples at the back with some more ribbon, or cover the whole back with some more fabrc or card.

I was impressed how professional mine looked & how simple it was to do. They would make great gifts ot even be very cost efffective to make for craft sales.

    That is fab! Well done!

I have been wanting to make one of those for ages, but had a bit of a disaster trying to cut out a different pattern for myself & it has put me off dressmaking atm lol.

I was following a "7 days of sorbetto" project on a blog, and the lady added a short sleeve. The posts are here if anyone else is interested.

Great bag Hart, love the zingy lining!

Lovely top Georgia. I am getting fed up with not being able to go and sew when I want to as OH is asleep upstairs all day on nights. I cant sew downstairs as I get backache when I try with our dining table, plus it would take me all day to bring everything up and down stairs.
