Hope you don't mind me popping buy to ask a question about covering wooden coathangers. I've always used old pairs of tights to wrap around them/pad them before putting the pretty covers on. But these days due to trousers/opaques I don't have a ready supply. Any ideas as I want to be as mse as possible?0

If you have any polyester stuffed pillows or cushions that are a bit squashed and tired, you could salvedge some of that to use. or you could use thin wadding strips, if you have any from another project etc.
Cannot think of anything else to use. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

You made me remember that I do wash my second-hand fabrics, like you do too
I bought some fab 60's print pillowcases that were unused from a bootsale last month. They had that 'been in the loft forever' kind of smell, and so I had to give them a good wash before they were ok. I wish I had better luck with charity shops when it comes to fabric. I am off to Alnwick tomorrow, hopefully I'll find some goodies!0 -

The independant, smaller charity shops, are usually the best for Fabrics, they havent taken on the corporate image of the bigger charities, who tend to just rag the fabrics as there are not enough Zones to carry them. They concentrate of Clothes, books. and bric a brac. Fabric, linens, and childrens things come down the bottom of the scale. (I speak as an exmanager of a BHF shop).:DWhen I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

Fantastic tip, thanks! It has been a long time since I've seen a good independent charity shop though, our town is bogged with the usual shops that are increasingly selling new goods in favour of second-hand.
Bring back the charity shops of days gone-by, I definately spent more money in them ten years ago than I can bring myself to these days. (it's not that I want to buy things for next to nothing, it is just hard to say yes to a top that costs £6.99...when the actual retailer down the road is still selling it for it's original price of £3.99)

Im usually lurking on here, but i had to say this..
I was in the BHF last year and saw a vest top, had a primark price tag on for £2 (ish) but the BHF had priced it as £5
I think that charity shops are quite expensive now days, i only go in to look at childrens clothes really.0
