Question - do you let door to door salesmen in?

as ive said if i walked into your worplace and told you to fook of you wouldnt be best pleased
If you are banging on my own private property, in my own home, where I live, disturbing either my dinner, my tv program, me playing with my son, my sons sleeping, allowing my cats a possible chance to escape while the door is open, in fact just generally disturbing me, I reserve the right to speak to you however I bl00dy well wish!
There is a HUGE difference between a potential customer deciding they want to purchase something and walking into someone workplace to discuss it, and some obnoxious salesperson banging on your door, or ringing your phone for that matter!
You are clearly flogging a dead horse here. I'd give up if I were you!Mummy to

If you walked into my workplace and told me to fook off, I would have you removed by at least two rather large members of male staff, have a giggle and think nothing more of it.

there is no need to abuse workers no matter what job they do /and no matter how or where they do itReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you0 -

jamespir - I've done door to door - it was survey work and for the council and I found nearly everyone were friendly enough when opening their doors. If they said no I simply said no problem, have a nice day!
I had I think in 4 weeks a total of maybe half a dozen slam their doors on me...
Maybe people are less suspicious of 18 year old smartly dressed girls with a clipboard though
too true and you worked for the council ( people see that as a trustable authority )
and in the company where i worked the 18 year olds with boobs the size of melons did do better than the lads and most of there signups were men
i used to say the same have a nice day theres no point getting in a slaging match with people but i know some who didReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. I completely agree
Whenever I've had a d2d salesman I've always politely said I'm not interested and that's been the end of it!
I'm not so unhinged that I'll flip out if one so much as breathes on my door during my favourite programme/dinner etcFuture Mrs Gerard Butler

Personally I just say 'not interested' and close the door. However people have got the right to use whatever language they want on their own property. If they want to be rude it is their own business. The same with a phone call, I just say no and put the phone down.0

Phone sellers do my head in. They say 'can I speak to Mrs xxxx' (the last owner)...I reply 'sorry she doesn't live here anymore'. They then say 'well would you be interested in...whatever'......I reply 'well it isn't me that you want to talk to though is it.....you asked for Mrs xxxx...so why are you asking me'.....that usually flummoxes them and I then put the phone down.
I think what winds me up is when they knock on the door and say 'we're not selling anything'.......then proceed to tell me all about some mail order magazine that they are promoting that some of the profits go to a certain charity....
My reply to this was 'you told me you aren't selling anything though'.....cue the woman looking totally blank at me. Again I repeated 'actually I am quite annoyed as you said you aren't selling anything but blatantly you are as you want my money'....
At this point her 'other half' was backing down my drive!!!!
If it is a charity I say 'sorry but I have a charity I have chosen for the year and I am giving to them'.....which is true.0 -
I recently came across this response to door to door and cold callers "Have you let the Lord Christ Jesus into your life and are you spreading his word throughout the world?" Probably wouldn't work with JW's..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Excuse me, but I am not unhinged at all, nor do I flip out. I simply share the same views as pretty much everyone that has replied to this thread, so it seems, that I dont wish to have my privacy disturbed! Does that mean we are all unhinged?
:rotfl:
I don't remember mentioning you in my reply?
I suppose drama queen would have been better than unhinged
Are some peoples lives soooooooooooo busy that taking a minute out to answer a door and politely saying ''I'm not interested'' is too much of a hassle?
There really is no need for rudeness, regardless of whether it's at your precious frontdoor or notFuture Mrs Gerard Butler

In this situation, I feel they are being far more rude than I am by ignoring my request!
And yes, it is a hassle, when I have gone to the effort of spending good money to have a clear, long-lasting sign made for my door to specifically request that these people leave me out of their "enquiries"!Mummy to
