I dont open the door if I can help it, and I certainly wouldnt let one in if I did.
I am with TT and they never had to check my line.50p/£24.00 Xmas 2010:rudolf:

No, I do not let cold callers in. Nor do I give them an answer if they phone, nothing beyond 'No thank you', that is.
It's nonsense to say 'they won't take NO for an answer'. Of course they will. They have no alternative!
The word 'No' is one of the most useful in the English language. 'No thank you' and the door firmly closed will see anyone off.
I have learned a lot from my DH who had many years' experience in sales, although not door-to-door. You haven't got to give them the slightest opening, appear to be in the slightest doubt, or they will press home what they see as an advantage. Don't make any excuses either - don't say 'Well, not just now' or 'I can't afford it' - that's none of their business. If you say 'I might like it but can't afford it' they'll be sure to come up with an 'unmissable' price. Just be firm and they'll get the message.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.
