Question - do you let door to door salesmen in?

I have a video entry phone because I'm disabled; if I get a cold caller, I tell them politely, over the intercom, that I'm not interested thank you, and put the receiver down.
Telephone callers that slip through the TPS net get to talk to the answering machine.
There is no way on this earth that I would let anyone into the house unless the visit was pre-arranged. I'm far too nervous. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
My sister's friends mum went to go see a down syndrome guy the other day and he had scratches on him. She asked what he had been doing and he said fighting a troll. She didn't think much of it so just said ok. Then a little later she said what have you really been doing, and he replies again fighting a troll and did she want to see the troll. She thought she better humour him so they went upstairs to his bedroom, and to her horror, there was a dwarf person(don't know what to call them) tied to his bed. Apparently the dwarf person was a sales guy just calling around and he had been there for 2 Days!!!! Scary huh. What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0

Have also complained about chuggers (those charity clip board commission ones) who were making similar comments to people in the town centre (stuff like "my you look like you've got a lot of shopping bags, how about giving some of your money to charity" and shouting comments about women's appearance to appear cute and clever... sorry but "a pretty lady like you must want to help the old people" shouted across the street isn't on).
Hear, hear! A couple of years back I was shopping in a city centre high street, was in a bit of a rush to get back to my car before the parking ticket ran out, and was approached by someone with a clipboard & charity pot. He said "Excuse me, do you have a moment?" to which I said "No, sorry, I'm busy". He then proceeded to follow me down the street, shouting at me and making me feel so uncomfortable that I eventually had to head into the nearest shop, where I didn't think he would follow. He continued to stand outside the shop shouting "You're SO RUDE!" at me until I managed to get out of view.
Needless to say I was more than a little shaken! To this day I wish I had gone back & got his ID & details and reported him to whichever charity he was representing. Disgusting behaviour.0 -

I don't remember mentioning you in my reply?
I suppose drama queen would have been better than unhinged
Are some peoples lives soooooooooooo busy that taking a minute out to answer a door and politely saying ''I'm not interested'' is too much of a hassle?
There really is no need for rudeness, regardless of whether it's at your precious frontdoor or not
In my experience, be in on the phone or on my doorstep, I have often found that "no thank you I am not interested" is not enough as the person trying to sell you whatever it is they are selling tries convince you that you are wrong and you are indeed interested and in need of their product :rolleyes:LBM: August 2006 £12,568.49 - DFD 22nd March 2012

I normally just say no thanks at the door and they normally leave. But if they tried to put their foot in the door think that i may get a little angry.
Cold callers annoy me im registered with TPS but still get them from people who used to have my number and after I say they have wrong number they start trying to peddle their rubbish on me then get funny when I say about the TPS? Has anyone else been gettin those automated messages about debt recently?
Chuggers are horrendous I was working in Cheltenham one day and at lunch I went around the shops and one came up to me and I said no thanks dont donate to charity by standing order. He then in the middle of a busy street and rather loudly accused me of being racist:eek: because his charity was for African children. Im not proud but I really did get stroppy with him and on no uncertain terms said IF I was to ever donate to a charity it would be my decision and would never hand out bank details on the street. he still tried to follow me so I said rather loudly was there a reason he was stalking me and following me0 -
Can anyone give me a link to a page which has a template for a sign that says something along the lines of "No salespeople, no religious people etc etc" please?0

I hate hate hate sales people coming to our door! Utility people and charity people mainly. The utility ones wont take no for an answer! I had a guy at the door a few months ago who I told Im not wanting to change and he kept going on, then asking details and all the while Im saying I dont want to change!
The charity ones arent as bad, its just I cant afford to donate to charity right now since Im not in work so all money is needed. I wish they would just say at first they want money then it would be over so much quicker for both of us!Weight loss November 09-January 10: [STRIKE]13lbs[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]20lbs[/STRIKE] 27lbs! :j0
