yet they have signs in banks .shops police stations. hospitals stating you should NOT be rude to there staff so it should be the same
Not the same at all..
I can choose to go into a bank or hospital. I choose not to have people invade my privacy so I will happily tell them to !!!!!! offWe all evolve - get on with it0 -
Even if they did wear signs round their necks asking you to be polite to them, if they ignore my sign I'd still ignore theirs!Mummy to

its still abuse though however which way you put it
yes i agree that there wrong for invading your privacy if you have a sign saying no but if you dont then you cant really complainReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you0 -
We usually NEVER deal with people on the doorstep and like many of the people here have a sign however a utility company was in our road while i was doing the front garden and the rep persuaded us to change companies a decision a year on we haven't regretted. Also TalkTalk were in our area and I did invite them in as we been considering their package for a while. We subsequently signed up with them.On both these occasions we had thought about both these companies before so it wasn't an on the spot decision.0

who pays the wages at your job then ? the customers !!!!!
and you dont pay there commision the company there represeting does because nine times out of ten bar sky you dont pay anything up front
The NHS pays my wages that's a completely different issue.
Salesmens wages come from company profits which are paid for by the customers. No salesmen = lower prices ! That's why it's normally cheaper to buy direct.
Apart from not likeing to talk to salesmen I work shifts and so does my policeman son so unexpected daytime callers are not welcome. If they read the notices on the door then they wouldn't have to suffer rudness. ( my rudness is merely asking them to leave and abrupt closing of door no more. )Decluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/20 -

If they are on my property uninvited then I can be as abusive to them as I wish.
I don't need a sign to tell people to get lost.We all evolve - get on with it0 -
I hate salesmen calling at my door and tell them so if they persist! We had one say we were weird a while ago as he was from the council and wanted to tell us something we may be interested in.
My dd (17) was most put out he thought we were weird for not giving him the time of day!
I have a sign up and the standard line (they must be taught this at salesman school ) is 'Sorry, I just noticed you have a sign up'.
The first few times I gave the benefit of the doubt but now I say something like, 'well, now you've seen it, goodbye' as I close the door!
I have caller display on the phone so just don't answer if I don't recognise the number, but I find the TPS very good at stopping phone calls.
Same with junk mail - we only really get the non-addressed stuff.0 -

Been there done that myself:o
Apologise for going a bit OTT, give him a cuddle and enjoy the rest of your evening.
Its not worth arguing over
As for Door to door people, I tend to lie..... Double Glazing/Tarmac/Extensions? My husband is a builder! Energy supplier? My husband works for whichever company knocks' rival. If all else fails, its not my home or the owners are out0
