i think you belittled your partner by the sound of things which he probably wasnt pleased about
i have worked door to door but i didnt mislead anyone and do think some people are very rude and very judgmental

i used to take notice of the signs and miss the houses that had them in i have a sign in my window and people do take notice of that but if they do knock im never rude i treat them how id like to be treated

Until they pay me rental for letting them use my front room for business purposes - then no, I won't be letting anyone into my house unless I have expressly asked them to call.

I have a notice on my door saying no door to door sales please. Some still knock and I'm afraid I am rather rude to those who refuse to listen to me. No way would I let them in.

If I need to buy something or change utilities I like to research it myself in my own time. The on-line deals are usually better, after all these sales people will be getting a commision and guess who pays it.. YOU !

who pays the wages at your job then ? the customers !!!!!

and you dont pay there commision the company there represeting does because nine times out of ten bar sky you dont pay anything up front

We just had someone come to the door from 'Talktalk' apparently. I wasnt paying much attention until my partner invited the person in as he had told my partner that we could qualify for free broadband and he needed to check our line.

Now, firstly my partner is usually the one that is super vigilant about security and secondly we are on a contract with BT for another 12 months so I didnt see the point of someone 'checking our line'.

We are very unhappy with BT at the moment so my partner believed the salesman who told him that talktalk could talk BT into relinquishing the contract.

I said this was nonsense (this is all in front of the salesman) and said NO THANK YOU, CAN YOU LEAVE, leaving my partner apologising profusely to the salesman.

A row has therefore broken out between us with me wondering what on earth has gone to his head that he invites what I call a charletan into the home to 'check our line'.

Am I being overly suspicious, my partner reckons that 'a big company like talktalk isnt going to rip people off or promise stuff they cant deliver'

My feeling is that all companies are going to rip you off given half a chance and that no way can another internet provider promise to get your out of a contract you have with another ISP

    What do you think.

they do actually because talk talk offered to pay the remaing 12 months of my bt broadband contract only reason i didnt move was the speeds and usage limit were less

And who pays the company - you do - so you ARE paying the commission.

  • Talk Talk call at my house at leaest once a month using the same line about recieiving a flyer which says that something is happening at the exchange and we are allowed free broadband. We have never yet received this flyer and they never take no for an answer.

I am of the opinion that if I want a service I will go looking for it and would never sign up without researching what they are saying.

Well then, well done you for being able to read. Its a shame other people working in your field arent as clever as you.

If I knocked on someones door after they expressed that they didnt want me to, I would hardly expect to be welcomed with open arms, and I would have no right whatsoever to complain if someone was rude to me!

I never let doorstep salesmen inside my house. I would have told him where to go too, so good for you.

Yes but people have signs in their windows which are ignored... Do you suggest D2D salespeople should wear signs around their necks asking people not to be rude to them? :p
