Have you considered or looking into this? If you wanted to keep him then surely this would be a channel to spend some serious time looking into.
thats why i posted here for something that had not thought of.
People on here are more than willing to help - but getting smart with them back isn't going to endear you to them or encourage them to help you going forward...[/QUOTE]
people are willing to help yes i agree but have lost count of the amount of times ive stated we cant find the extra money for a dog walker yet people dont read the thread fully they just jump in with wait for it "why dont you just get a dog walker".
im not here to endear myself to anyone thats not how i live my life im afraid im here for help to rehome our dog:beer: LOVE LIFE PROCEED & PROGRESS0 -
Well, people will have opinions, and if it was me I would be living on baked beans and making cuts elsewhere to afford a dog walker! Or looking for any other alternatives that meant I could keep the dog. But, you are not me...
If you want help to keep the dog, people here will try and support you to find ways - as MrsT has suggested, but, if you have already made your mind up, as I suspect you have, then the best thing to do it to ensure the rehoming of the dog is managed as well as possible. I cannot find the rescue centre you mentioned, if you have any difficulties with them, I suggest you look at the terrier rescue link posted on the previous page.0 -
Maka,
Try not to get down about this im sure if you had the money for a dog walker you would get one.
I agree its not fair to leave the dog 11 hours a day but some dogs can cope with this why dont you see how things go greyhounds and whippets are breeds that dont need as much exercise as other breeds.
He may be happier than going into another home:jBaby Finley :j

Couldn't agree more. I'd live on dry bread rather than give my dog up. When you take on a dog it should be a commitment for life, not just until things get a bit difficult. So now the poor dog will have to cope with being given away by yet another set of owners.0 -
I would think that most dogs would prefer to stay with their owners even if they had to be left for long hours, particularly as it could be only a temporary measure.0

Interesting that you can find £200 per month to buy the new car you think you deserve but can't find £80 per month to keep your dog.
I despise people like you!0 -
Hi there,
We were in a similer situation with our 12 month springer x. She was far too energetic for us and with both of us working and my hours increased, I was worried about inadvertanly not meeting her needs. I had arranged a dog walker and was also going home every lunch time. I still felt that this was not enough. I then got in touch with the police dog handlers to see if she would be suitable as a sniffer dog.
To cut a long story slightly shorter, she was perfect for them, they loved her straight away and she is now in London living with a family and with her handler all day. I can call any time to get an update. The police were very impressed with her excellant temperament and basic training. (We had had her from a puppy).
I was going to wait before getting another dog, however Patricia a ex breeding pug !!!!! in desperate need of a home was living near to us. She is a perfect speed for our family. Someone comes in three times a week and I come home the other times, the vet is thrilled with the health changes in her and we have given her a loving attentive home.
Do what you can for your little dog, if there is an alternative to rescue see if you can find it. It took an awful lot of input to find our dog a "job" but it was worth it to think that she is having a good life. We learnt our lesson in getting the right type of dog for us, she cost us a fortune with the damage that she did to our home and I have said I'll never get a puppy again. It can all end positively. Good luck!0 -
Troll?
Must be because anyone who states there is no way they can afford a dog-walker for a commitment they have taken on, a member of the family but will pay £200 per month for a new car is beyond reprehensible.
I bet they will be back in a mo stating the car is necessary....not at £200 per month it aint.
I have never posted a negative comment on a forum ever however I could not hold back.
Grrrrr
(P.s don't waste your precious time responding to this post, I will not be returning to this thread as nothing you want to say i will ever want to hear/see after doing a prev post search on you)

after the new year we will be both leaving the house at 07.00 to 07.30 and my wife will be first back home around 18.00hrs so that gonna be 11hrs the dog will be at home all alone which is just not fair for him so we are looking to re home any suggestions welcome
Come off it this has not just happened you did not suddenly get a phone call a few days ago saying that your hours would be changing! You must have had more notice than this! So why leave it so late? Why is your first inclination to get rid of him rather than find away to work around it. I hope you do find a good home for him as it does not sound like you have your priorities sorted and that he deserves a loving home.0 -
