Help to rehome our dog
Comments

Either get a dogwalker or find a local person/friend to help you out until you can get him a rescue place. When we adopted our mutt (not her first home by a long stretch either) we were told we were her last chance! If this failed it was a last visit to the vets...
They asked us what we'd do if suddenly I couldn't get home to walk her at lunch and I said "I'll get a dog walker!" - a year down the line - new job. So... I got a dog walker! £20 - BARGAIN! I pay £7.50 per day for 45 minutes and that's standard rate round here... I'd bite someones arm off to only have to pay £20 a week!
Look at your SOA (see the DFW board if you need a hand) and find out where you can cut back to save £80 a month - I'm sure it's do-able.
If you don't want the dog (which is what it's sounding like to be honest...) then at least it'll help you till you can find a rescue place or a new home for the poor pooch.DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
My DFW Diary - blah- mildly funny stuff about my journey0 -
Not everyone could afford to find £80 a month. We are in the middle of a deep recession, and a new job does not necessarily equate to a pay rise.0

Can I ask how long you have have the dog? What is he like when left alone?
A few ideas for what its worth. A dog flap? a friend willing to come in and let him out? As others have said a dog walker, you dont have to spend much on that, ask in the vets if there is someone who cant have a dog but likes walking.
If you only want the "well we have tried our best but" then I am afraid you wont get that in here, well not from me anyways.
Depending on which part of the country you are depends on what rescue centres are near. But as I said in an earlier post, why havnt you contacted the rescue centre where you got him from,(you did say he was a rescue)
Please update us, if you havnt found somewhere, just maybe someone could help.
Chris n TJ xxRIP TJ. You my be gone, but never forgotten. Always in our hearts xxxHe is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.0 -
You are going to struggle to find a rescue place at such short notice, is there any chance you could move closer to one or both workplaces? That would surely be better for your health and your relationship with one another as well as for the dog.
no not that easy as we both work miles apart plus not that easy to sell up:beer: LOVE LIFE PROCEED & PROGRESS0 -

cutting back any more is a no go the reason he having to go is we have both had to up our hours. so finding the extra £80 a month cant be done and even if it could there are other things that need paying first:beer: LOVE LIFE PROCEED & PROGRESS0 -

Chris n TJ xx
we have had him just over a year he is fine when he is left alone apart from being bored. no friends or family that can come in as they are all working full time. we dont want to just had him back to the rescue centre we would rather try our hardest to find him a loving home that people have the time to take care of him:beer: LOVE LIFE PROCEED & PROGRESS0 -
I'd be responsible and find the £20 per week until you can find a definite new home for him.[/QUOTE]
its not a case of being responsible and finding the extra £20 a week cant be done.
if we were not being responsible we could have dumped him at the rspca end of. LOVE LIFE PROCEED & PROGRESS0 -

If he came from a decent rescue, you will probably have signed a legally binding contract when you got him, saying if you couldnt keep him you must contact them so they can rehome him.
There are good reasons for this. A good rescue will be far more experienced in rehoming dogs than most dog owners. Also, if you return him to them, any new owners should be able to get support from them, and if he has to be rehomed again, the rescue will again become involved and make sure he does not go to just anyone.
Is he neutered, up to date with his jabs etc?0 -

i will give them a call he is neutered and up to date with jabs:beer: LOVE LIFE PROCEED & PROGRESS0 -
How did you cope with him before?
To be honest, if he is fine when he is alone, why not buy him some toys and make an extra fuss of him when he gets back? He'll probably much prefer that to being given to other people who may decide they don't want him too, or being given back to a rescue. He's already had so many homes, it really isn't fair to do it again.
You don't seem willing to listen to suggestions, though, and just want to get rid of the poor little guy.Signature down for maintenance :rotfl:0
