Hi ladies.
Haven't done any stitching here yet this week. Monday hubby was here so we were out most of the day and yesterday I finally got my xmas tree and decs up. Really didn't feel like putting them up but now they are up I am really quite pleased with them
Will do some stitching this afternoon though because I figure I only have a week or 2 more and this project will be finished then I can choose a nice new kit to start! By then I'll have my lovely new stand to use so might do a bigger than usual one.
Awww has he not let you use it!!! Meanie!0 -
nmm Belated Happy Birthday from me. I hope you got lots of doggy kisses xx
Louise that new frame looks amazing...
Now all there are PLENTY of muffins to go around.... The recipie was in the Sunday paper the other week... Makes 12 muffins. I've had to pop the remaining 10 in the freezer to try to keep them for Christmas! Am making choc chip gingernut biscuits and shortbread stars today. Also may have a go at Nigellas Christmas Puddini truffles... I have an unexpected day off so am relaxing and determined to get those cards done!!! Shout at me if I havent done them today please....:p
2 eating apples
250g plain flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
125 g light brown sugar + 2 for sprinkling
125ml of honey
60ml runny natural yoghurt
125ml vegetable oil
2 large eggs
75g unblanched almonds
Preheat oven to 200c
Peel & core apples then chop into small dice - set aside
Measure flour, baking powder, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon into a bowl
Whisk 125g brown sugar, honey, yoghurt, oil and eggs in another bowl
Chop almonds roughly and add half to the flour mixture. Put the other half in a small bowl with the 2nd teaspoon of cinnamon and the 4 extra teaspoons of sugar
Fold the wet ingrediants into the dry. Add apple and stir. Dont overmix!
Spoon into muffin cases and sprinkle the sugar/cinnamon/almond mixture on top
Bake for about 20 minutes until slightly risen and golden. Yum scrum!

I think I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that the Balloon Girl cross stitch I stitched several months ago still had some grid marks on it. Weirdly, they all came out on the main stitching, but in the balloon, you can see them. It's glaringly obvious to me & DH said he could see them too. You can't so much on the pic, though.
So I thought giving it another wash would sort it out. I've got it in the bath soaking in warm water and baby shampoo, but I think it's gonna take more than that. I know some of you have put stitching in the washing machine before, so I was wondering what setting to put it on. The threads are Anchor, so I'm sure they'll be fine, but will wash at 30C anyway. Should I use a delicate cycle??? Book says that's a 45 min cycle (wash, rinse, anti crease or draining cycle-so no spinning, right?) I'm a bit clueless when it comes to our washing machine. I only learnt the 'wool' setting this year! LOL! Should I put it inside a bra bag or pillowcase too? Can I chuck in a white t shirt to wash at the same time (hate using a wash for one thing! Such a waste...) and is Ariel actilift gel ok to use. I have powder too, but washing on 30C, I'm not sure I trust it to rinse out properly.
Sorry for all the questions. Scared!!! :eek:Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

What lovely neat and even stitching, the finished picture will look great. Also I love your daughters' names, sensible but pretty.
Thankyou ERICS MUM that is lovely of you to say!
Ruth_honey when I wash my stitching I always roll it up inside a towel and put that inside a pillowcase, I wash it on 30C with no spin using a little bit of non-bio powder. I then leave it to dry laid out flat on top of another towel and iron while it's still a little bit damp with yet another towel on top! If the marks haven't come out don't iron it because the heat can "set" the stain in and you will never get rid of them. I used Vanish powder (the colour one) to wash some stitching that had a nicotine stain all along the top and it came out fine so I'm sure Arial would be ok to use.
I hope that helps and if you wouldn't mind could I have aof the chart? My sister has that picture tattooed on the back of her neck so I would like to stitch it for her.

Thanks so much for the quick reply. Mum told me to rub some Vanish soap on the back of the stitching and leave it for an hour before trying the machine wash, so it's fingers crossed for that. If not, machine it is...
The kit was from Urban cross stitch, BTW, and he has several other Banksy designs if anyone is interested.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

ruth honey ,
I always put mine in the machine and they come out fine. Kaitlyn 5 and carly 3 put their grubby fingers all over them in the stand as k says she likes to feel them. If i stitch anything for her she likes it left with no glass but i have to wash it often.Cross Stitch Challenge Member Number 20

Well boohoo for my afternoon of catching up on my stitching. The spot light directly above me blew before I even got started and none of the other spotlights are plugged in so I couldn't just move seats.
The other lighting we have in the lounge is quite dim as we have low watt bulbs so light level was pretty poor.
I then remembered my book light thingy so was using that for awhile but I have now done all the X's I can and am now onto backstitching. There's no way the book light thingy is good enough for backstitching so have got to wait for hubby to replace the spotlight for me so I can get on again tomorrow:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with.
