Hiya, thanks for asking, she is still here, she has good days and bad ones. She seems a bit more unsteady on her feet, but she still manages to run for her chicken & rice at dinner time :)

Its my birthday today, i haven't bought anything cross stitchy, i am hoping for some great sales. If only Beautiful Dreamer will be half price ;)

Happy birthday! Only just managed to get that in in time-just 7 mins til midnight. Hope you've had a lovely birthday. :bdaycake:

PS-Beautiful Dreamer is *stunning*!!! No wonder it's on your wish list. I'd love that myself.

I still don't like French knots and still need more than one go at times, but my friend Boneist sent me this link
    http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to-do-french-knot-191577/

and also this set of instructions, which I found really useful when doing French knots.
French knots aren't too difficult. There's usually instructions in the kit telling you how many times to wrap the thread round the needle (usually either once or twice) and how many threads to use. Once the thread is wrapped, I put the needle back down the same hole it came up about halfway, and then I pull the thread to tighten the loops and bring them close to the fabric. Then I put my finger on the thread as close to the needle as I can, so the loops are kept tight. Then I pull the needle through keeping the tension on the thread until it's nearly all gone down the hole. Fiddly, but not difficult. The trick is not to pull too hard afterwards - you don't want the knot to go through the hole! This regularly happens when I do them.

Sorry I still can't post finished fish pic because it's dark when I'm leaving for work and dark when I get home, the camera flash blocks part of the photo so will have to wait until the weekend.

Also need advice, the aperture on the card templates I bought on e-bay are too small to fit the WOCS quick stitches in to them - anyone got any ideas on what to do with them instead? Thought about adding names then folding them around a piece of card and just tying them to everyone's gifts.

What size and shape aperture do you need i have some downstairs. mostly oval but i think some either rectangle or square too.

I've loved it for over a year and the cheapest i've seen it for is £40, i hate to spend so much money even if it is lovely, better to be half price :rotfl: You can buy the chart for £12.50 here but as i don't have a stash it would be cheaper to buy a kit.

Just searched and found a chart a bit cheaper on an American site(123stitch.com) but as you said, if you don't have a big stash of threads, a kit would be better anyway. I've got a couple of wolf kits in my stash but nothing as detailed & gorgeous as that.

Hi guys - apologies in advance for this lengthy post...:p

I have been really busy, wrapping for hours, and last night as well with no end in sight yet. Even having trouble picking a day/time to do the christmas food shop - between them the kids have got 2 nativities, 2 carol concerts, 4 parties, and a trip to the cinema within the next week - hoping that weather holds off. That and the boiler service will be done between Mon-Wed next week, cant make any plans until they confirm the exact day.

Have hardly touched my Christmassy project - if it's not done by new year it's becoming a UFO for a while - not flipping doing it in January :rotfl:

Been busy in other ways though - first of all, I went back to the framer - he was very apologetic and offered to redo it straight away. You can see the difference:

    Now:

Really happy with it now and almost wish I wasn't sending it away :o;)

Also framed this one myself for another friend's christmas:

And another couple of coasters and keyrings as 'Christmas Eve gifts':

Ps - can I also have the recipe for the apple/cinnamon muffins?? They sound delicious, muffins are one thing I have never made before :)

This is how I do it, though with Winnie the Pooh, they only wrap the thread once.
If it goes back through the hole, just bring it back up and re-set it.
