hi, I have tried french knots for the first time today! not got it right yet!!! any tips anyone ??? or should I stick with my seed beads :rotfl:

I'm good at French knots. Although, as I've never seen any that are actually classified as good, I could just be fooling myself.

*note to self - avoid looking anybody else's French knots*
  • Wow louise chicky's right you deffo have a good eye for colour that lilac mount really brings it to life and it was good before.

Louise, the lilac mount looks way better. Well done for choosing it & also for not keeping it yourself! ;) Loving your other presents too. Is the Santa by Margaret Sherry?
You sound like my best friend. I called her yesterday & she was in the middle of wrapping presents. Her older kid had a Christmas lunch & the younger was on a trip out all day. She's also having her boiler serviced next week-they claim on Christmas eve, but she's very doubtful he'll turn up then. She'd mislaid a few presents & isn't that keen on wrapping as it is. Had to kick her off the phone so she'd get on with it. :)

Need to wash my brothers stitching today so mum can take it home with her on Friday. Engrossed in watching Ice Road Truckers at the moment though.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: That does sound scarily similar :D

Santa is by Margaret Sherry, he is really cute - it was in a magazine (2007 I think) I actually stitched it last year but ended up giving a different gift at the time.

no stitching done last night, we went to the All Churches Together carol service in the parish church. it's really nice and christmassy, hearing the kids school choir singing was so lovely, and as everyone thinks we're just from a different church, no one notices we're not from any! :rudolf::xmassign::xmastree:

    Hugs to you too.
Apple & cinnamon muffins??? They sound AMAZING!!! Count me in! I'll make some coffee :coffee: and we'll all put our feet up for an afternoon of stitching. :)

grumble. i was stuck at work. how about this afternoon? and i'd second a call for that muffin recipie, sounds delish! (i can share a fool proof almost fat free, no egg/dairy cake recipie if anyone's interested?)
Might have to forego the stitching tonight as I need to put on my Christmas party dress to stretch it out a little bit and also figure out what to do with my hair before I wash it.

    how'd you go?
i'm having my own personal nightmare about the OH's xmas party friday night. it's in a post hotel. we've been there before and it's soo lovely. but now i'm fat and frumpy and going through a total nearly-30-mid-life-crisis! have bought 2 dresses, will have to return 1, need a strapless bra  which i hate and am sure my hair is so long, straight and unkept that i look like the Adam's Family's Cousin It. grumble, grumble, grumble

Louise - you have made the right call with getting the mount changed, i can't believe how much it is 'lifted' with the lilac instead.
    :T

french nots - can i say that i sometimes cheat? :o when it just keeps going back down the hole, instead of doing it properly i push the needle down one aidea strand along. that seems to 'catch' it on the top fine.

    oh, and

    :bdaycake: Happy Birthday NMM !!!

    Hi ladies.

Haven't done any stitching here yet this week. Monday hubby was here so we were out most of the day and yesterday I finally got my xmas tree and decs up. Really didn't feel like putting them up but now they are up I am really quite pleased with them :D

Will do some stitching this afternoon though because I figure I only have a week or 2 more and this project will be finished then I can choose a nice new kit to start! By then I'll have my lovely new stand to use so might do a bigger than usual one.
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:

Ok, we'll have a quiet afternoon stitching (or wrapping presents! ;)) just for you...any excuse not to sort out the chaos in the spare room.

And that recipe sounds ideal for my friend who is intolerant to so many things! Share away...

How about wearing a normal bra and having a cardigan or wrap to cover the straps? That's what I did with a strapless dress I've got. Don't trust strapless bras to hold up my bangers, so rather feel secure and chuck a cardi on top. Covers up the top of my arms too.
As for the hair, can you twist it up and clip it? That always worked for me & looked good especially when a bit messy. Easy to sort if it starts coming loose too. Can't remember what the clips are called...claw clips, maybe? I'm sure you'll look great & have a lovely time.

Edited to add a lil pic of my strapless dress & cardi. Can't tell it's strapless & you can buy plenty of 'dressier' cover ups at this time of year.
