I have gridded out the top left quarter of my fabric ready to start the HAED cross stitch, I have never attempted a project this big before and could do with a bit of advice.
When working on a large design is it best to tackle each 10x10 square on its own or would it be best to work 10 rows at a time starting at the top of each chart page and work my way down in rows of 10?0 -

As for the cats, they came from a rescue centre, and I had only intended to get one. I had planned to call it Cat! As it was, when I arrived for a look around, these two arrived in the back of the RSPCA van - he had broken ribs from being kicked about, and was so scared he had puked all over his sister. In spite of all that though, they were cuddled up together, and when I peeked through the window I didn't realise there were 2!
I walked around, cuddled all the other cats, went back to the desk and told the lady I wanted the one in the RSPCA van - she informed me there were two and that they would be going together, so I ended up with 2 cats!!!!
Bless their cotton socks
Awww....I would've done the same. In fact, I'd probably go home with half a dozen cats!
Cotton Crosses is a good place for Cut Thrus. £19.99 delivered. I'm eyeing up the lighthouse too. Always fancied living in one. Also wanted to live in a windmill too, though...:rotfl:dizzyblonde82 wrote: »I have gridded out the top left quarter of my fabric ready to start the HAED cross stitch, I have never attempted a project this big before and could do with a bit of advice.

I would end up jumping all over the chart just to use up the thread colour I'm working on. That's the point of gridding for me. Just stitch however you feel comfortable. You might find once you start stitching, you just fall into what works best for you.
Bad news for me today. I've done my back in and I'm in major pain!!! It was a bit stiff last night and I've done something today to make it much worse. Was planning on going out to celebrate being with hubby 12 years, but ended up ordering a take away and watching a DVD in bed. Time for nurofen and hopefully I'll get a massage to help else the pain. 'Ello and welcome
Sorry to hear about your driving license - and best of luck in your adventures to get it back/find an alternative, whichever is more appropriate.
There's a post further up the page of a site which sells the kits for £20 - I did a quick googleisation, and can't find any cheaper. (Cotton crosses) Which one do you fancy?
Make sure you post pics of your progress!
See ya soon x0 -

ooo i like all of the cut thru' range, but i would like to do the garden shed one for my parents (long standing joke with the parents of my garden shed)
i just love the quirkiness of them.
There is one shop in Bristol that might stock them which i hope to visit in the next day or so, if not i've booked marked the website you mentionedthanks for the advice.

I've had instant charts from them before, but nothing posted. They advertise in the stitching mags, though. If you're not sure, Across Town Stitching sell the Cut Thrus for £22 each, which is still a great price.
Night of passion...:rotfl: Will tell him I'm sorry for ruining his night!Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Many moons ago I was the lucky recipient of a little cross stitch for a friend. Here are last is the finished cross stitch (still need to put in on a card - not sure whether to fray or to insert
)
I am planning to pair it up with one of these for my friend's birthday

My daughter has also opened and loved the owl cushion (that took several years to complete) but has whisked it away before I could photograph it
However it is this pattern http://www.rainbowcrafts.eu/barn-owl-cross-stitch-kit-jsbo402-9726-0.html
It is just the pattern (I tend to scavenge any threads for my christmas cards) but I always work from a photocopy of the pattern so the original pattern is in good nick. As I'm loathe to throw anything out if anyone has any ideas of where this pattern could get some use just PM me0 -
Hi I hope no-one minds me asking, I am new to this site and just found this thread.... I am doing a cross stitch - it's for my niece, been at it nearly 3 years now (I know, I know but in my defence I had another baby myself so any spare stitchy time was spent on his sampler!) and when I picked it up again it looks like it has gone mouldy - I don't know why, it's in a decent bag etc. Do you think it will be worth trying to wash it to see if it comes out, or should I just write it off (I have a height chart kit I could stitch for my niece instead)
Thanks0
