I might try normal thread and see how I get on, thought I might try running stitch over 10 holes as it is 25cnt evenweave so holes are close together.
Starting to think I have picked to big a project but just loved the bright colours, so bored at work today that I have just worked out the design has 222,800 stitches :eek:0 -

Nearly the weekend means nearly time to go to Greece
How excited am I! :T:T:T:T
Does anyone know if I can take bamboo knitting needles on to the plane with me? (I know metal ones are a no no, but I wondered about wooden ones)
Advice appreciated x0 -

Hi everyone, I've not been on much recently, been very busy and not much time for browsing and stitching. I've just had a look through the last few pages and have enjoyed catching up and seeing everyones projects.
I finished the kit I got for my friends birthday. I ended up rushing it as she mentioned she was going to stay with family for her birthday so I didn't have as long to do it as I first thought. I was quite pleased with it although it was far from perfect and more importantly my friend was delighted with it! I didn't have the time to master doing french knots so I had to leave them outI put the finished framed picture in a gardening stuff hamper for her and she was very pleased!
My next project is either going to be the Home Sweet Home chart that someone has posted recently or a picture that says "today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday and all is well" which is nice, it has a nice flowery border. My sister is such a worrier about things that might never happen so I think it would be good for her, lol! They are among a bundle of charts I bought off ebay recently.
Charlie, I am so glad you asked that as I'd been wondering too! If I can be of any service on that front then I am happy to "contribute", lol!0 -

Bedtime :j for tired accountants who somehow survived year end xx0 -
hello everyone! my computer is failing to 'see' the wireless internet so i'm stealing a few minutes online where i can. so sorry for the massive post! and sorry if i've missed anyone.. this has been a bit of a mammoth catch up!
~update: shamefully havent finished the little scarecrow sampler - have been busy but also ran out of black (?!) so couldnt do the border or crows or finish the backstitiching. i've got some now but am not in much for the next two weeks... but if it runs into September that'll be really irritating on my July challenge!!
~stitching exhibition - just thought i'd say that theres a nice little stitching exhibition at Sulgrave Manor in south northants/north oxfordshire. they've done some 16th or 17thcentury tent stich designs for a bed cover which are really interesting. and they're also showing off local people and clubs works - i was struck by some stitched bunting and some amazing beach huts with xstitch and cloth applique. it's about £7 to get in the house but only £3.50 for the gardens and special exhibition. (and they're selling Anchor Perle at 3 for £1.50!) maybe worth a look if you're nearby.
louise - your lake lady looks just lovely! and wow do you stitch quickly! those meercats are racing along!
kezbabybabe - love your knitting! really nice stitch and colour
sweetcarer - i hope your hubby feels better and is having a better time at work. i dont get how they think someone could work with that?! where i work we have to tell a nurse if we are ill not our line manager and we have formal interviews after more than 3 days off sick(!), i suppose it's to cut down cheets, but it feels very invasive.
Maria - i love the charlie and lola designs, they look just like the cartoons!chickywiggle wrote: »and the embrodiary:(no dots)

hey chickywiggle! that looks really interesting! ok so you might have figured it out by now:o but the dotted lines are the just showing which way to put the stitches... whether accross sideways or up and down the segment they are in. i gues they're just long straight stitches? i'd start by stitching along the line show, then work out to one side to the end of that area, then go back to the line and do the same to the other end. they want you to stitch over the dotted lines and also the bold black lines so go half way into those... that way there wont be a gap between the different colours.
the pear is confusing as it doesnt have dotted lines! gosh! unless it says elsewhere i'd just do stitches of even length of about an inch that run from the bottom left to top right personally, then for the next row i'd stagger them, like bricks i suppose.
sorry if this is too late or too confusing!I like the look of the advent calendar in the new cross stitch mag (received my subscription copy yesterday) and I am thinking of combining the little cross stitch designs with a Christmas felt applique kit I have seen but I'm not sure exactly what felt applique is ??? can anyone enlighten me?
Flat Eric - in case you dont know by now, felt applique is sewing bits of felt onto a background to make a picture. felt doesnt fray so you dont need to do fancy things like turning the edges under, so it's nice and easy and quick. you can do it by hand with a running, whip or blanket stitch or by machine with a zig zag. sounds like a nice project... could you post a link to the kit please?tellmeitsfriday wrote: »Actually I seem to do a lot of old lady things now - shopping at M&S (especially not buying "fashionable" things so I can wear them for several years), knitting, making clothes. I'm only 30ish!!! Argh!!!
I am beginning to sound like my mother!! Eeek!thanks for your confession Tellmeit'sfriday! i'm just under 30ish and have a very similar affliction!
(and hope your mum is doing ok.)
Bubbles - Hello! wow! i'm so impressed! :T :T :A :T :T
i havent seen it yet but will go look, and will even buy it (!) as soon as i can. i hope your mum doenst mind too much. i'm sure when she's over the shock she'll be proud of you.
i hope your meds are being sorted out? really hope you're feeling better. wow! just so chuffed for you! xxRelax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23.
