I think it's because you are new to posting to the forum, it'll take a few posts before the forum will allow you to post pictures, but one of the 'veterans' will confirm shortly. :)

Welcome to the thread by the way. ;)

Flat Eric - in case you dont know by now, felt applique is sewing bits of felt onto a background to make a picture. felt doesnt fray so you dont need to do fancy things like turning the edges under, so it's nice and easy and quick. you can do it by hand with a running, whip or blanket stitch or by machine with a zig zag. sounds like a nice project... could you post a link to the kit please?

    Hello
thanks for the info. The kit arrived earlier in the week and has stayed unopened for the minute ! this is what i bought http://www.sewandso.co.uk/cgi-bin/find/db.cgi?db=zoom&do=search_results&Prod_Code=40357&ww=1

i thought i could combine this design with some of the cross stitch designs from the advent calendar in issue 230 of cross stitcher. im not very good at sewing but I thought it would be a challenge !

kezbaby love the scarf and thanks for the link to the knitting forum. I am well and truly addicted and haven't done any cross stitching all week. My scarf is now about 70cm long and I love it. I have borrowed a few books from the library too and have been looking at all the projects I want to do next- oh dear!

Bubbles the article looks great and so do you! It's funny how people you chat to on the net don't look like how you imagined them to look iyswim. I imagined you to be a lot older tbh.

I have now got a new nickname amongst my friends who don't do crafty things- Felicity Kendall:rotfl:They think I am wierd as I am 36 and have granny (their opinion) hobbies. I just don't understand how they can just sit and watch tv at night and not do anything with their hands, I'm too restless. They also think it's hilarious that I have an allotment, make jam and pickles and bake. Oh well I enjoy what I do anyway. Does anyone else feel like a bit of an oddball?

    Happy stitching everyone

Hey Thrifty, I've said Hello to you in the other thread! ;) I'm addicted, you might also want to visit www.Ravelry.com as that's got loads of people's projects, details about Yarns and patterns. I'm on there in the same username with my scarf project. :o

Well my colleague and I are both 28 and she does knitting, cross-stitching and uses a sewing machine, so between us we have a right ol' giggle about how we do these crafty things that are considered 'old' to some people. I also shared with her Bubbles' article and shared with her how we all use it to help us with our medical things and she agreed that she found it the same when she was very poorly as a teenager as it helped her to relax and get better.

I think chatting to my colleague got me interested in knitting, cos I was jealous of her doing something like that, as she does it to make animals.

    Hi all,

I've been AWOL for a few days - busy in the garden until rain stopped play yesterday.

Thought I'd share 2 projects my 86 year old mum has done in the past 9 months or so. I just finished off the light coloured stitching and back stitch on the cat picture but she did everything on the lady picture. My sister got her started on needlepoint as a "distraction" after my dad died 15 years ago and she moved onto cross stitch when she saw me doing some.
