Toby doesn't point at things, I'll have to practice that with him. I feel that I should 'teach' him more - up till now I've just let him get on with things and he learns when he wants. I remember seeing that someone on here said thier baby could sit, so I stuck Toby on the floor and he sat up!
MFD - that is early crawlling! I don't really understand things until Toby does them. He sat at 4 months and crawlled at 7 months. I think he does everything else early to make up for not knowing how to feed!Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -

Ours is a 9 month check but they check:
- mobility (can they sit, crawl, stand etc)
- do they look to see where something has gone if it is dropped
- can they pass an object from one hand to the other
- possibly something with 2 objects...can they reach out with both hands and take something off you? She was very impressed that Benjamin took them both and banged them together
- can they pincer grip (we practiced this with cheerios on his high chair, then they used a little plastic pig at the check - I was terrified Benjamin was going to grab it and eat it!!)
- can they point (big cross for Benjamin)
- do they babble (but not asking for specific sounds) Benjamin had been really quiet up to this question, and then he said 'lalaladadadababa' really loudly when she asked the question :rotfl:
Will add to the list as things come back to me.
Then weight, height and head circumference.
Edit - yay for laughing babies!!
this bit always makes me giggle (sorry mfd)

I totally begrudge paying £2 parking for a minute though :rotfl::D0 -
thats what they did in the hospital anyway. when he went for his 8 weeks check the DR clapped his hands.
i think you'd know if there was a problem with hearing'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
Speaking of milestones - i'm pretty certain Amber smiled at me last night. I saw one corner of her mouth trying, then she gave a full on grin. She wouldn't do it for DS though!jillie1974 wrote: »thats what they did in the hospital anyway. when he went for his 8 weeks check the DR clapped his hands.

aww yay for big smiles!!
that was Kian and then when we went for his check up the DR told me to call him by his name and he ignored me lol (Kian not the dr) so we went for clapping hands instead.'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
Amber's got her hearing test today, what does that involve then? The letter said it's best if baby is asleep
As Jillie said, they put a probe into their ear: we had this done at the hospital just after Elena was born, and had to go back at 3 weeks as they couldn't get a reading from one ear. They hook the probe up to a computer, and I think they see if they can get the noise bounced back: it's best if they are asleep, as if they are awake and moving it activates the test and they can't get a true reading. Elena refused to sleep, so had to feed her during the test to try and get her quiet enoughIt's quick and painless!

Whats this probe that you speak of? Kieren had big massive earphones put on then those little electrode things like they use in an ecg on his head to measure the brain activity?0 -
Omfg..........
My moron neighbours (both sides) have put in a counter complaint against me about the noise. Stupid sodding pathetic IDIOTS!!!!!!!!
They've only done it because i complained (about one side) so as they're all related to each other they've obviously decided they have strength in numbers and both said i bang all the time !!!!!!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fuming isn't the word.0
