Well done MrsM!
We're in a frenzy of packing - Husband didn't do his last night and is now in an epic strop because my case is over, and although his was supposed to be virtually empty he took it upon himself to add a pile of extra stuff and now they're both over, but because mine was over first it's my fault. The loft stuff is done though, and now it's just Next and the stamps. And then home!!!!Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

One thing I would point out to you though is your own children are taken into consideration with the numbers of children you can care for (rightly in my opinion) but obviously you can't earn from them lol! Now the numbers are usually only 1 under the age of 1yr (your son), total of 3 under 5 (including your under 1 & your daughter) and 3 between 5 and 8yrs. So as you have two children of your own you'll only be allowed one under 5 and max of 3 between 5 and 8 but they will be at school most of the day so your earning potiental is limited. I'm in exactly the same situation with my two boys as they fall into the same age bands as yours do.
I was thinking of getting registered, even if i dont use it right now, iyswim, as i would always have it to fall back on !??Something to think about if you are genuinely interested in this...
I can only speak from my experience in finding a CM, but I chose mine because it was obvious that she really loved doing it and wanted to to it, and wasnt doing it as a way of getting paid while looking after her own kids
For example, one I met had two girls of her own and looked after a boy, and she had only pink toys, pink dvds, pink cutlery etc, and when I went the boy was making jewellery with the girls! She also told me that she was planning to "get a job" when her children were at school, so I dont think she really even classed childminding as a job!
In comparison, mine has 5 kids of her own but the youngest is 11. She has had an extension built onto her house for the kids to play in, and the extension has floor-to-ceiling storage full of toys.
I know I'm not everyone, but I know I was put off by CM's that had their own children at home... MFD was the same, but ended up with a CM with her own kids at home, so you never know!
I know what you mean emlou; when i was thinking about childcare for Katie, i thought that i wouldnt want a childminder that has their own children for fear of my children being 2nd best....but i think now that it would be advanteageous as they truly know what is best for the children etc, if i made any sense there!??
I guess ill change my mind if i go see a few different ladies though!
Well done on your winning MrsMoc! Where are you in N.Ireland!? We got a lilttle bit of snow - just a think layer on the ground this morning.
Thanks to all ladies who have gave me advice, a kind word about this childminding lark -- i know there are a few i havent quoted or mentioned, but i appreciate it!! xxCarla-Farla!!

Safe Journey SS :A0

Im between Lisburn and Belfast, I live towards the bottom of a mountain (not sure of its name
) Its very thick here, though some of it seems to be melting, but there is quite a steep hill from my house to the main road and I have skated down it in the car enough times to never want to do that again!!!

I have used a few childminders. When interviewing them, I was always impressed first with facilities, equipment, structured agendas for the week and most importantly to me, their personality.
I took my children along too, to see how they felt in the environment.0 -
Are you looking forward to going home SS? Hope the journey's not too bad.
Good luck at the library Aless. Your resolutions are similar to me so maybe we can 'encourgae' each other! Sounds like we're similar size too. I'm hoping to get down to a 12/14 by June for my best friend's wedding, and also want to start training for the Great South Run (10 miles). I did it in 2006 & 2008, last year I was 8 months pregnant so couldn't.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
DH has been kind today. He has taken all 3 children out after I was up all night with Miss Screamy for no reason except she wanted in with me. Normally, I would just take her in with me, but because of the ear infection I've been taking co-codomol which affects my sleep as well I still have a bit of a fever so had to stay awake till she fell over, put her back in her crib and she would wake up a few mins later. Then the boys were noisy little !!!!!!s from 6am (DS2 SCREAMS when he doesn't get his own way and DS1 annoys him to make him scream), so DH sent me back to bed at 8am when I was ready to kill them all. I woke up half an hour agao and he's taken them all out visiting and won't be back for a wee while.
Coffee, toast, quality street then I will crack on with soem housework while I can get it done.0 -
OK, everything is packed, baby is doing screamy time downstairs while getting her clothes on and I'm just doing the last bits - which includes you all going into my bag inside my computer
"See" you tomorrow, probably - have a lovely Saturday everyone.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76
