  • morning all - What a cheerful topic of conversation for New Years Eve. We've not done a will yet, but have told everyone we want sIL to have izzy if anything happened. Either set of parents would be fine to look after her now, but not when she is a teenager pushing boundaries iyswim.

Feelie, I hope you get some help at the doctors :)

What have you all got planned for this evening then? my parents are coming over, and I have a mini bottle of bubbly in the fridge - I may even stay up till midnight ;)

Oh another question for those of you with bigger kids - not exactly something that is a priority at the mo, just an idle thought I had earlier - up to how old would you expect to go along to birthday parties with your child/have 2 parents come along with every child to birthday parties you organise? I'm doing invitations and if all 7 babies come, plus 14 parents, and the grandparents/aunties/etc there are going to be millions of us!

    ((Hugs)) for Toby

Hubby has phoned and he'll be home just after 1 hurray!

I've started giving Caitlyn little bits of stuff to try. She's had toast, banana, mashed potato. I've bought one of those tommee tippee things to hold the pieces of fruit, has anyone else used them? How often do you give them food in the day? I can't believe I've already done this once - I've forgotten everything! Are there any foods to stay away from? (Besides the unpasteurised stuff).

Are any of you doing anything special tonight?

  • Claire, that sounds more reasonable than I would be lol...

Pink Pig, after 6 months they can have anything apart from whole nuts and peanuts if there's a history of allergy... I think you have to cook your eggs properly too... I give Caitlyn a little bit of something whenever I have anything to eat...

I don't get what it is with relatives trying to feed her innapropriate things though... Boxing day at my Mothers I turn around and my sister is spooning rocky road pudding down her throat... Yesterday FIL is wedging toffee cheesecake into her mouth! She's happy eating fruit and custard, why the need to give her high sugar stuff?!

SS, you around? The fairies arrived this morning, home made packaging stood up well to the onslaught of the royal mail! The coat is lovely and Aimee is suitably impressed with the tamagotchi... She wanted me to tell you thank you :)
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

  • Ladybird, we have 2 parties mostly due to the reasons you outlined. One big party not on the actual birthday but with lots of adults, children, party games and mayhem! Most menfolk stay at home ;).

Actual birthdays are reserved for close family as thats our preference.

3, I usually microwave haggis and serve with mash and gravy... But I'm not scottish... I just used to buy them up there when I went to Glasgow for meetings with work...

Thanks Krystal - he doesn't eat mash! (Another of his strange eating habits!) How can anyone not eat mash? But he'll eat boiled potatos with butter on

I've got a duck in the fridge and was planning on crispy duck pancakes with chinese nibbles for NYE food. Hmmm - somehow I don't think crispy duck pancakes with haggis sounds right.

Pinkpig I think you just need to avoid nuts, and honey? V is very good and will eat just about anything. She didn't like olives or feta though!
Ladybird I think parents stayed at Livs parties til she was around 5 or 6. (Except one who just dumped her LO at the play barn for Livs 3rd birthday! I didn't even realise she'd boogered off til the LO came to me to take her to the toilet!

Claire I'd be tempted to tell them to fofff too! Will you be able to re sell it?

  • 3, glad you like the pushchair! Which colour did you go for?

Feelie, hope Toby gets better soon.

  • Gone are the days of late night parties now we have two children and a dog petrified of fireworks!;)

We are staying in with M&S nibbles and bubbly :D.

Claire - would totally only give a partial refund. They're being nobs, clearly!

Feelie - hope your baby gets what he needs at the doctor's! Must be scary the first time they get sick :o

Hampton Court Palace is brill, Bruno, have fun!

Another long night here (even though Finn practically didn't sleep at all during the day yesterday!), so didn't get "up" until 10:30 and am still in PJs. :o (very unlike me) It'll be a while before I can keep up with thread properly like over in Pregnancy, so just bear with me.

Got a lovely present in the post this morning...cute snuggly blanket bunny thing that's embroidered with his name. I could get used to this people buying us loads of stuff thing! Really need to get out today as rain has finally stopped - I haven't left the house for more than 30 minutes since getting home on Sat, I'm ashamed to admit :o (I can't drive and we do not live within walking distance of any shops/pubs/anything).

I know it's REALLY early days yet, but when do babies get more interactive when they're awake, out of curiosity? Not necessarily play, but I feel like we should be doing more with him when he's awake, but not sure what 'more' IS! iyswim...

eta: ooo, GISI, just wanted to say that I ordered the same wrap as you off Etsy! LOL, not to copy but figured since it was exactly what I wanted anyway, I didn't mind paying the $2 more they wanted over another seller since they came personally recommended by someone. Anyway, she's already posted it so I'm crossing fingers our local post actually BEHAVES in the new year (it's been horrible since October, seriously) and I get it quickly!!

Thank you, I'm not being unreasonable then! I have 100% feedback but aren't bothered if she wants to neg me. Its only a jammed screw so I might be able to remove it but looks like they've already tried with a pair of pliers. They've scraped the hook which link onto the buggy so only slight cosmetic damage which if I'm honest you'd probably not notice when using it but thats not the point! Will try to take a picture in a minute

Black and white dogtooth - thought it wouldn't clash with various colour coats! :p

I almost ordered the purple, but was glad I didn't, I saw 4 in town yesterday.
