Tara it has to be pregnancy related sickness not other reasons. So if shes off because of stress, falls etc its not to do with the baby so not pregnancy sickness so the 36 week rule can't be enforced (directgov says)

She's 26wks now, but huge due to the problems with the baby. They will have to drain some of the amniotic fluid soon so she can't work then anyway. She's also still sick due to the raised hormone levels which are to do with baby problems too. Gonna have a shower, back in 10mins or so. X
Too many children, too little time!!!

morning all - What a cheerful topic of conversation for New Years Eve. We've not done a will yet, but have told everyone we want sIL to have izzy if anything happened. Either set of parents would be fine to look after her now, but not when she is a teenager pushing boundaries iyswim.

Feelie, I hope you get some help at the doctors :)

What have you all got planned for this evening then? my parents are coming over, and I have a mini bottle of bubbly in the fridge - I may even stay up till midnight ;)

Oh another question for those of you with bigger kids - not exactly something that is a priority at the mo, just an idle thought I had earlier - up to how old would you expect to go along to birthday parties with your child/have 2 parents come along with every child to birthday parties you organise? I'm doing invitations and if all 7 babies come, plus 14 parents, and the grandparents/aunties/etc there are going to be millions of us!

From my past experience you would ususally expect only one parent to attend with their LO and stay but if they are friends they might feel they have to stay too.

Maz, mine always put on about 1oz a day for a while. X

DD just been on phone in a pickle, her employer has told her she's only entitled to 26wks maternity leave as she's been off sick so much of her pregnancy.

AFAIK if sick leave is taken dring poss maternity leave time (so from 11 wks before the birth) your employer can put you on maternity leave then but they can't knock weeks off for earlier sickness - and if you are still working then that still counted as sick leave. Lots of emploers are pants at maternity though - my old hr lady didn't know about time off for pregnancy related appointments and would make me take holiday!!
Back from Docs. Knew LO would be alright when he made a lunge for the GPs Thermometer and wouldn't hand it back! Temperature is back down and he is napping after the walk. It was very scary, temperature hit 39.5 in the night, which seems a lot higher than his base of 36. Hopefully he is through the worst of it. Hardly had chance to feel sorry for myself either!

:Tglad toby is ok feelie - a high temp is always very scary.

Oh yeah, forgot about honey... Not to under 1s... Although I saw some honey ricecakes in Asda the other day and they didn't say anything about an age recommendation??
Ah, I knew there was something I was meaning to ask!! Ta for reminding me :p
Seth is now fussing over his porridge every morning and not finishing it, but is clearly hungry cos he will happily guzzle down a 6oz bottle half a hour or so later  every other meal of the day he is ok with. OH has decided this means he is just bored of porridge, and as much as I hate agreeing with him I do think he might be right! I normally give him Asda Ready Brek, they do a honey flavour. Would it be wrong? I assume it would be cooked, obviously dried, so I wouldnt have thought there would be a problem, but I thought I'd ask opinions first!!

    CUTE!!!
    Haggis. MMMMMM

You can microwave it, boil it, and oven It I think?

I served that on Xmas day, but made them into haggis balls and deep fried them. OMG THEY WERE LUSH!!

Microwaved it, rolled it into balls, rolled in flour, dipped in batter, submerged in the good tasting fried goodness. I served it with salad and chillied cranberry sauce.

Even OH's dad ate them (but they were vegetarian ones I bought) because couldn't find ones without pork in them (like !!!!!! it's supposed to come from a sheep!) AND OH's dad won't even eat sausages and the like because of all the stuff in them..."What's inside sausages scare me, eyeballs and @rseholes and god knows what else" I said you can get like 99% pure beef ones "Im worried about the 1%"
!!!!!! is haggis? It sounds awful! And :rotfl: at your OH's dad, how funny!

The devils own food. It is manky and vile and stinks your house out when you cook it.

haggis(n.)made of sheep's or calf's viscera minced with oatmeal and suet and onions and boiled in the animal's stomach

Is there anything you Scotts don't coat in batter and deep fry? :rotfl:

That actually sounds quite nice though.

Put it in the bin, oh sorry, I mean microwave. Or steam it. Or put it in the bin.

I'm not actually sure what Haggis is. I told DD its a cute little animal, like a guinea pig, that you only find roaming around the scottish highlands! Am I a cruel mummy?

I was going to go and look at the list of ingredients, but I don't think I should.

Could the stress/falls not be pregnancy related though? Stress at least.

I was off for a couple of days with migraine. Not pregnancy related as I've always suffered, but because I was pregnant I couldn't take my normal migraine medication - so work put it down as pregnancy related sickness, which isn't counted towards you normal sick record.

Right, i'm off to test drive my new buggy! See you all later. xx

I've been thinking lately of putting LO into a nursery when I go back to work as I'm worried about OH coping with him 3 full days a week plus working full time.
I'm getting a wee bitty confused about Tax Credits and Childcare Vouchers and salary sacrifice.
Can anyone give me laymans terms as too what this all is????
We get basic TC at the mo.
Don't know if my employer does CC Vouchers but can I ask them too?? Can I get it from OH employer too??

Do you think its worth posting on the Benefits board about this??? Or is there another more suitable board???

    So many questions!

On the pregnancy related sickness thing, I was signed off for 3 full months and started official ML at 34wks as my sick pay had run out and I had used up all my holidays.
If she is only on SSP it might be worth going onto SMP and then using accured holidays at the end of paid SMP to get her more time off.
Sickness of any kind can not reduce the length of ML.
