csh- oh dearie me!! like your going to say yes lol !!
my son is trying to convince me about tattos he reckons his friends get them as a tattoist just allows parent permisson from 16 dont know if thats true!!
Oh God, tattoos also. Many arguements over that. Loads of kids round here have tats some are only about 13/14 yrs!! Theres a guy that does them from his house!
DD keeps saying stupid things like can I get one for my 14th birthday!0 -
Em, did you see last night I was saying my Nan gave us Christmas money (£65 in total) but my sister/SIL nothing at all.. all very bizarre! She also made a sarky comment in front of my aunty and uncle about "oh so I am invited then!" about Christmas Day lunch. She lives five minutes round the corner from my parents and goes there for every big occasion and most Sunday roasts  She normally offers to contribute to lunch (buying the wine or pud etc), but didn't this year because she was miffed at not being asked :cool:0

I know it's REALLY early days yet, but when do babies get more interactive when they're awake, out of curiosity? Not necessarily play, but I feel like we should be doing more with him when he's awake, but not sure what 'more' IS! iyswim...
I can't remember exactly, but Izzy was smiling a us by about 6 weeks i think. What do you do at the moment? it is never too early to start giving baby a running commentary on what you are doing (this is handy as a way of getting baby used to being put down too - if you are talking the whole time he knows you are still there!) anf there is tickling and singingIf you're rusty on your nursery rhymes then go get yourselves both registered with the library - they will probably have some cds you can [strike]copy[/strike] borrow.
They can put you onto Maternity Leave if you're sick after 36wks. She wouldn't be in such a state if she had more support. She fell in work last week on a wet kitchen floor, then before that slipped on food on the stairs between the kitchen and restaurant. He's never done a risk assessment. Doctor said yesterday that with all the hospital appointments and stuff now and her asthma playing up it's because she's anxious, so signed her off for 8wks.
They can make her start her maternity leave at 36 weeks, but that doesn't mean she is entitled to less - she is still entitled to a year off, and 39 weeks paid, it just starts earlier. The only effect having been off sick may have is that if she was off at the wrong time it may have decreased her pay so much that she isn't entitled to SMP, only MA (she would be still entitled to the leave, but not the pay). I work in payroll, so send me a PM if you want me to dig out some "words" for you.I've been thinking lately of putting LO into a nursery when I go back to work as I'm worried about OH coping with him 3 full days a week plus working full time.
I'm getting a wee bitty confused about Tax Credits and Childcare Vouchers and salary sacrifice.
Can anyone give me laymans terms as too what this all is????
We get basic TC at the mo.
Don't know if my employer does CC Vouchers but can I ask them too?? Can I get it from OH employer too??
Do you think its worth posting on the Benefits board about this??? Or is there another more suitable board???
So many questions!
I think most of your questions are already answered - you buy the vouchers before tax (if you are on 20% tax and buy the maximum amount you save about £50 a month), and can set however much to be paid over to the nursery, or you can save them up if you want to put some aside for summer holidays etc. You can both buy vouchers - if your emploer doesn't do them you can ask them to start (no harm in asking) - I think most of the childcare voucher companies have info/leaflet things for people to print out and give to their employers to pursuade them.Isabella Molly born 14th January 2009

My nan is being really lovely, thoughtful and generous at the moment but for about the last 2 years or so she's been nasty, rude and downright horrible sometimes for no reason whatsoever... It got to the point where my aunt wouldn't ring her for weeks at a time because she upset her every time she rang... We don't know what the turning point was, we just started noticing she was being less rude gradually until we could honestly say she was actually being nice... Maybe it's the same with your nan?No advice but <<hugs>> my gran is 84 and quite demanding at times - I have a big family though so its not all on me.Em - I think you need to get your Nan to a doctor, it's most likely the usual getting old and batty but it could be demetia which is horrible and the sooner its caught the better it is all round, you really need to go with her though otherwise she'll likely get there and forget why. fingers crosed it's not though
she had a leg ulcer earlier in the year and flatly refused to go to the doc/nurse for dressings, and insisted on doing it herself!! The nurse came out once a week to check she was doing it ok, and then when they realised she was ok doing it they left her to it

I got my ears pierced for my 14th birthday (and I got my conch pierced (the insidey bit of your ear) when I was 18 and fainted as it was so painful . Always wanted a tatoo, but my parents said they wouldn't support me through uni if i did, and by the time I left I've always had more important things to spend my money on. Could you get her one of those airbrush tatoo kits or something instead?Isabella Molly born 14th January 2009
