Weezlie - I have been pondering starting a Parenting daily chat thread, can I have yours (and anyone else's) thoughts?
    My thinking is;
there are daily threads in other areas such as DFW and OS so we 'should' be ok having one on families (I asked MM about it and she worried we'd get moved to the arms)
if the thread is daily it would removed the perceived need to catch up on 3 days posts when you've been away
removing the need to catch up would hopefully mean 'we' are less distracted and therefore less likely to forget people??

Only trouble with this is that if you only manage to post/ look every other day you may miss something - would you keep this thread going as well?

Also on a daily thread if people refer to events that happened yesterday and someone hadn't read yesterdays, you'd either have to go and catch up or be excluded from the conversation or have the details endlessly repeated so everyone could talk about the same thing IYKWIM
    what tigs says :p
That too ... for example, someone would have to repeately explain what a Sophie is ... hang on, we do that anyway ;)

But I do like the idea of a first post listing regular members & their children, I find myself trawling back through signatures to remember whose baby is how old.
hmm I know we prob all do stuff different but I like the sigs coz its straight after the post and I'd never be bothered to go back to the list :rotfl:

I'm just gonna quote some song from the 90's
"You can please some of the people some of the time" lol we'll never alll be happy will we *tut*

Hello everyone. Just adding my tuppence. I think a moneysaving only parental/young children thread would be useful. I enjoy the chat, but can't justify reading back all the time :(

Life is just too hectic these days! I've just watched LO empty a whole box of tissues and couldn't intervene as the look of delight on her face was beautiful......

Oh - and my idea got a mention in the email this week - a spending diary app. I'm really proud!!! (i'm so sad!)

My thinking is that a separate advice/support/mse one would be for any bargains spotted, or any specific questions - e.g. I am asking for highchair recommendations. I have asked before and no-one picked up on it. I don't mind and it's not urgent, but maybe there are other specific questions that people would like answered.
It doesn't meant that you wouldn't get general support on the chat one if you know what I mean. But yes, I agree, they will probably end up merging into each other to a certain extent as people will probably stick with one rather than the other.
I personally think it would improve things a bit and probably encourage other people to contribute who can't keep up with the general friendly conversations as they don't feel they are a member of the "club" type thing.

Sympathies Bruno. I can't imagine not jumping in the car if I had something like that to do! Hope you all feel better soon and can take turns at getting some rest.

Fitz, we've got the Asda baby event highchair but haven't used it yet! We've built it up tho and it looks really easy to clean but is a little bulky when folded.
I think I'd actually prefer a highchair that didn't fold to one that folds untidy IYKWIM
Ikea one doesn't fold. I suppose it depends on how much room you have?

Fitz - I like that idea, I could be a proper MSE geek and create an index at the begining and link to any posts in here too 22.gif

This sounds sensible to me...and I suppose if one of the regulars wants advice it could always be put in bold something like....I have asked a question on the other thread...then anyone who has time could nip over to the other thread and give advice on there if they have any suggestions...that way questions might not get missed!! Also as fitz says many other mse users might be more inclined to ask for advice on specific items, parent related subjects if they didn't feeli like they were intruding into the CLUB....which is how I feel some people view this thread.

Fitz I have this highchair, I really like it....it is nice and comfy which is good because Kai takes ages to eat so can be in it for a good half hour to hour at a time. It does sort of fold away, but I just leave it up tbh and I like that the big tray has an extra clip on tray bit that can just be whizzed away with all the slobbery food on it:)
