Then I'd have to read the end of the previous night's thread (because I don't stay up as late as Elle) and also the start of the new day's thread (because I don't get up as early as Bruno).
Weekly thread?
Also on a daily thread if people refer to events that happened yesterday and someone hadn't read yesterdays, you'd either have to go and catch up or be excluded from the conversation or have the details endlessly repeated so everyone could talk about the same thing IYKWIM0 -
That too ... for example, someone would have to repeately explain what a Sophie is ... hang on, we do that anywayAlso on a daily thread if people refer to events that happened yesterday and someone hadn't read yesterdays, you'd either have to go and catch up or be excluded from the conversation or have the details endlessly repeated so everyone could talk about the same thing IYKWIM
But I do like the idea of a first post listing regular members & their children, I find myself trawling back through signatures to remember whose baby is how old.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

I have often thought it would be better to have 2 threads - a chat thread, and an advice/moneysaving/support thread, as posts do get lost easily.
Agree with this. At least 70% percent of the posts on here are just chit-chat and not advice/moneysaving. It makes it difficult to just pop in and ask for advice without getting caught up in the chat
Not that this is wrong, as I am guilty of this too!0 -
Tigs, just your explanation of the documentary was a tear jerker so i can well imagine i'll be a sorry state when i watch it! The whole story is so miraculous. - like what if the other lady didn't go into labour so you'd had the other scan but it wasn't picked up, what if you'd not even been getting the extra scans etc.. it doesn't bear thinking about, he's amazing, as are you and Marley.0

Bruno – Hope you feel better. Did you make it into work? Hope you don’t pass your germs onto E and OH! Keep well away from them!
Hi again all
Too late on the germs, in fact probably I have caught what Elijah had the last few days and is just on the recovery curve from! And unfortunately OH is also sick this morning.
E and I went to the office and I showed him off a bit which was quite entertaining, and let OH get a long sleep to hopefully feel a bit better so it can be my turn later. I am absolutely knackered now though, what with the journey and carrying stroller+nappy bag+toddler up and down 6 flights of stairs at the various stations (plus laptop on the way back). Drinking lemsip and recovering before I try to actually do some work.
I don't like a daily thread here. Bit too lazy/feeble to justify my position
weekly might be ok maybe but I don't know how much it would help.
Potentially two threads would work, but I think the content often blurs as people discuss so it might be a bit of an artificial limiter. Might help people really seeking advice though, possibly.0 -
If there was 2 threads, i'm not sure where i'd fit into the non-chat thread. Most of my posts are about my ex/family/general moaning - but not directly parent/moneysaving related so i wouldn't want to post it on the support thread, so i'd post it in the chat thread and you all being the lovely people you are would still offer me support so the thread would end up just being like this one?
I think we should leave it as it is

Yes he's a little miracle baby, so many coincidences that conspired to let him live - he definitely has a guardian angel or two.
And I suspect they've done an "edit job" on us in the documentary to make it seem even more moving .... They gave us a copy of the rough footage from Andrew's discharge, and it makes me cry when I watch it.

Mel, I'm involved in a documentary for BBC3 called "Seven Ages of Pregnancy" as I'm a "mature" first-time Mum (being screened this summer). They've filmed me n Marley at the house, stuff like that. I was already on fortnightly u/s & doppler scans due to a problem with placental bloodflow. The crew were due to film the scan at 27wks, but had to rush away to film someone else's labour, so an extra un-scheduled scan was organised one week later. At that scan, we were being filmed as the Docs told us the placental bloodflow had in fact failed and, if not for that extra scan, Andrew would have died in-utero. I had two days of steroid injections, which improved things for a week; then the bloodflow stopped again and Andrew had to come out by emergency c/section.
They filmed Andrew at 3/4 days old in NICU, and our reactions to the situation. And they've since been back and filmed our triumphant home-coming, 11 weeks later. Apparently we're the "tear jerker" story of the documentary, and the BBC insisted they come back and film the happy ending
Oh, and the even spookier thing. My placental bloodflow problems weren't picked up at the 12wk & 20wk scans. They were only noticed because I volunteered for research (due to my age) which involved an extra u/s & doppler scan at 21wks. Otherwise we wouldn't have had a clue about any problem, and we'd have definitely lost Andrew.
OMG, I had no idea...How super fantastic that you were involved in both the research and the documentary as they effectively saved Andrews life....I can't wait for it to be on, you will let us know won't you:)
I have such an unhealthy diet atm!! I have just scoffed a (King Size) pot noodle and a packet of crisps and am now trying to avoid the creme egg that is screaming at me from the kitchen.....I think I am a bit stressed, I always eat junk when i'm stressed!Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.0 -
Had a funeral yesterday so OH took the day off work, and we were going to take H swimming for the first time in the afternoon, but my period came so didn’t go after all. This morning, we are meant to be at Kindermusik, but H has been feeding funny for a few days and by the time I had her fed, changed, and into the car, I realised I was going to be too late and it wasn’t worth the rush, so we are having a nice day in today instead.
I caved in and ordered a Sophie too! Everyone seems to have one, and H is continually chewing her Anna Banana, so I think the legs would be a good shape for her. Other teethers seem too big at the moment and she has no interest in them. Her RL friend has one too and apparently loves it.
Phew!!!
Kieren has finally got over his not feeding stage and went straight into classic 4 mth growth spurt complete with draining every single bottle, night feeding and sleep regression!!!!
Arg! Hate 3am bottles!
Jumping on the sophie bandwaggon eh? Cannae see green cheese!0
